I am guilty of neglecting the book threads as well, but for me to answer all the new FoL threads I would need to reread it at least once, and I simply don't have the time for that right now.

I am usually here on a pretty regular basis though

I've been on these forums in what seems like forever (realistically, it's more like 12 years) and there have been many changes - style, content, members, mods, server hosts, friendships...

I wouldn't say there was a good old days like Mal seems to think. There have been great times, terrible times and loads of general chit chat all over the place.

Maybe Mal is stuck with nostalgic glasses or something but I still enjoy it very much. I have made some good friends here, not just online but IRL too.

Changes happen. You either roll with it or moan about it and get left behind. I also agree with whoever said that I doubt SE worries too much over what's happening on the forums...

Mal, I might pop over to the Western Coast of North America next year... Mainly California but I may have time for a long weekend slightly further North...

I think the good ol' days usually include some of Mal bitching that we don't do the forum, mafia, chat right anymore.

"The Fandom" is far, far more than just the Empire. Even so, time changes everything. I see far less vitriol than I used to see in the book forums and I think that's a good thing.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I think the forum would benefit if I went back to my old drinking habits.

Personally I tend to enjoy slow but sure marches towards death. One of my main hobbies, one could say, and I try to practice it every day.

Disagree. You should start entirely new drinking habits.

The forum defo needs more arguments, it's far too supportive these days. And the doll fetish guy was called Erisai or something wasn't he? He made Nico look like a sweet little old lady.

Ambien is a crazy ride. I've woken up on the couch with a box of hot wings and no memory of eating them.

Defo Lord of Tragedy. He might have started messaging me around the time of the Jame Joyce fiasco.
I had politely responded but in a way that basically said, there is no conversatoin to be had here, you'll a tool, I think he might have been asking what part of Ireland I was from.
then his next message was telling me not to worry, he was A-Sexual

possibly.
I think it was in the general book forum.

someone had compared TtH to a James Joyce piece, but had done the comparison really badly and was being an argogant prick about the whole thing when people disagreed with him, so cougar? and a few of us were ripping him for his approach, not the comparison. Then i tihnk Steve had read it or seen it or soemthing and then we were made out to be the arseholes for ripping on this guy for comparing TtH to James joyce, which we weren't doing, we were ripping on him for being an arsehole.

it was all very distressing for me personally.
