Also, it looks like Farage's possibly sole opposition will be a man who wears a bin on his head.

Insane.
The man just needs going to prison with how crooked he is. Imagine if a Labour MP tried this shit.

Parliament needs Count Binface.

I mean it's a farce. On one hand you have a ridiculous joke candidate who has no real policies but likes to be in the spotlight, who is only deserving of mockery and scorn. And in the other hand you have the noble Count Binface.

From what I understand, there are two outcomes. He wins (apparently he's a well known comedian and writer?) and Farage shuffles off into his dotage, or Farage wins but his crimes keep coming to the fore...I dunno enough about it to comment further, but it seems like Farage going away is what most sane people want.

Laurence Fox is standing, which should split the far right dickhead vote with Farage.
Binface reiterating his promise to bring back Ceefax, built 1 council house in the next 5 years and to ensure that 99 ice creams cost 99p. Ironically these should play well in Clacton.

This guy is looney tunes and is familially associated with a bunch of people I usually like:
He was married to Billie Piper and shares kids with her (she apparently hates him now)
His sister Lydia Fox is married to Richard Aoyade (who I very much like; but he fails to speak out on either Laurence's shit, nor that of his previous boss Terf/shitbag Graham Linehan), Lydia was also ON an ep of The IT Crowd too (she's in the Work Outing episode as the actress in the play) and as far as I know has never talked about Linehan's shit.
His cousin is Emelia Fox (of Coupling and Silent Witness fame; who I have had a crush on for decades; she ALSO seems to refuse to comment on her shitbag cousin)
Freddie Fox is Emelia's brother, and also Laurence's cousin (who I enjoyed quite a bit in Slow Horses as Spider...and he claims he has no contact with Laurence at least)
Interestingly Billie Piper, briefly addressed the family dynamic in a March 2024 interview. Piper suggested that if people want to understand Laurence, they should ask his family, stating that Lydia and her husband, actor/comedian Richard Ayoade, "might have a more interesting take"...that makes me wonder if she's ripping into Lydia and Richard, or if she means they had it worse than she did with Laurence.

I'm pretty sure it's in the realm of 'they don't speak to him because he's a massive wanker' more than anything, but they've probably had to deal with it more given direct family ties

The fact that the whole world is going down the worst possible timeline together doesn’t make me feel any better about the USA.
Was it always like this or has knowledge of politics simply revealed to me how stupid all countries are as a collective.
What happened to the candidate with a boot on his head?

Andy Burnham commenting that Count Binface is "carrying the hopes of the nation, don't let us down" did make me chuckle, whilst also wondering at the level of farce involved when the man wearing a bin is far and away the most sane candidate available.

Anne Widdecombe has passed away, but from the sounds of things it seems like she was murdered.
Despite holding to some really very bigoted views around gay folk throughout her entire career, no one deserves to go out like that.
