that's because it's complete nonsense.

I was going to say that none of what he wrote was "sources" of any kind.

To both of you, my point exactly. I asked for sources for his claim and he provided none.

Looks like this article but slightly different context.

I'm looking, but I don't see a call from Merkel for refugees to come to either Europe or Germany in that article. What it states is that she says Germany can handle the influx and that there is no legal limit for how many can seek asylum. She also says that they will get a fair hearing and that those who do not meet the criteria will be deported.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Which is a fair, typical, and diplomatic response to the crisis as well. I think people just want to read more into that and put words in her mouth, which should not happen. That's how we get people screaming "fake news".

Aye, hence the slightly different context ha.
I wasn't agreeing with, just providing the "source."

Fair enough, I stand corrected.

What does "referred to police" mean? Can I refer people to the police?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Basically an investigation has been given to the police to conduct, presumably there will be criminal proceedings against individuals for electoral fraud now.

Ah okay. Well if anybody here needs a reference to the police, let me know.

Oh we know ALL about you...

Likely it won't come to anything. My absolute dream would be if they went "Welp the referendum is invalid as it cannot be said to be a fair vote - also we're jailing Boris Johnson Nigel Farage and just for the heck of it, Rupert Murdoch" but that'll never happen.

Well, there are not questioning the validity of the referendumk process, just the illegal behaviour of some of the campaign groups. So apart from some fines and warnings, it won't affect the Brexit process.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Some people are questioning the validity of the referendum process because of this. If the spending rules were broken, and the individuals in charge of the leave vote are guilty of electoral fraud (through 'false advertising') the result of the ref could be called into question.

Why those in charge of this mess can't see that its an unworkable, ultimately pointless exercise that is costing the country millions, and halt it on those grounds alone, is anybody's guess.

Oh yes, 'democracy' 🙄

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yeah the validity of the referendum is now massively in doubt. I bet Rees-Mogg and his chums won't allow anything to happen to it and it seems they now control what goes on (see also "pairing" fiasco that happened in some of the voting yesterday. Our democracy is officially dead.

All I'm saying is nobody's ever seen him and Voldemort in the same room.

This may or may not be coincidence.

Nothing will change with the overspending as the referendum was advisory only.

The people guilty for it though should be sent down.

The whole spending lark makes me shake my head anyway, the Government spent £9m on leaflets backing Remain before the campaign started whilst the two campaigns, Remain and Brexit were only allowed to spend £7m... that's pretty balanced.

"Advisory only" but being played as an absolute 100% mandate to do whatever they want in the name of the will of the people...

There will be riots and violence when it kicks in, and when people find themselves significantly poorer due to essentials jumping in price. People are already living below the poverty line now and it's only going to get worse.

Well, for those of you in or around Sheffield, you might see my ugly mug plastered around the millennium gardens in a few months’ time. I’m part of a Uni of Sheffield photo exhibition that launched today under the ‘We Are International’ banner, to put a personal face on EU citizen contributions to the University in particular and Sheffield in general. I am the Dutch entry. Can’t do much, but I will do my bit where possible. I just hope their ideas of sticking it on the side of city buses won’t fly.....

This is not quite Breakfast related but anyone have any thoughts on the Corbyn 'anti-semitism' row?

It seems patently ludicrous to me given that it boils down to his being critical of Israel as a political entity (and let's take a second to remember that plenty of Israelis are critical of their government's actions as well).
