I have all the stoneplate rings but the Flame one.. where the hell is it?
Had a few more goes at Nameless, then went and cleared the Archives and those gargoyle things on the roof. Dragon Armor guy dropped first go, and I've made it to the roof with the bridge and the fog door.
I just love the way the bridge with the barricades is a big flashback to the very first stretch of Demon's Souls - is this the last boss before Cinder?
I really want to use the carthus pyro that boosts attacks but somehow still need a faith boost. Back to Gundyr for a few thousand souls I guess!
Ah yeah same thing happened to me, I was going through all my rings and suddenly Realised I didn't have the Flame one. It's actually the first stoneplate ring you can get I think which is funny. If you joined the Mound Makers covenant (needs to be done before the Curse Rotted Tree I think) this will be easier to describe, because the ring is on a corpse hanging from a tree in the area that the cage carrying enmy you need to interact with to join the covenant is patrolling. Basically travel to the Undead Settlement bonfire, run through the houses down to the area with the Evangelist praying by the big fire, turn right over the big bridge, avoid the house and instead roll through the boxes and go on behind it. Deal with the blow dart thrall enemies and their friends and then climb the ladder right in front of you. Drop down off of the house to the right and the patrolling cage bro is wandering up and down right in front of you, the ring is on a corpse hanging off of a tree at the far end. You need to chop the corpse down to score the loot, if you're quick you can do it before it falls, but the point seems to be that it should fall, if that happens head to the area where you first meet Eygon of Carim (the guy with Morne's Great Hammer) - outside the door that leads to the lift where you first meet Siegward - it should be laying on the floor right across from where Eygon was sitting basically.
Cage Bro is interesting as well, in that you have to talk to a weird interactable version of those walking cage enemies, otherwise he is hostile and will attack you on sight. If you talk to the specific erm 'guy' - who is round to the left behind the house with the ladder I mentioned you must climb earlier - Cage Bro is passive and he'll let you hop into his cage then throw you down the hole where the boss fight ends up in the second phase. There you can speak to Holy Knight Hodrick to join the covenant, Hodrick is merely a corpse if you fall down only during the boss fight. Not sure what happens regarding the cage carrying guy's hostility if you talk to the cage NPC after you've done the boss fight, but seeing as joining the covenant is impossible after that it's a moot point tbh.
I actually never played Demon's Souls, DS1 was my initiation. Yes, the Twin Princes are the last fight you need to do to be able to face Cinder. And you can fight Cinder and still play in NG, this installment allows you to choose when to go to NG+ even after defeating the 'final' boss. Of course could you move on without beating the Nameless King?
The Faith req is 12 for for the Flame Arc right? I use it, I went up to 16 Faith simply to use the Sacred Oath buff that is the weapon art on the Sunlight Straight Sword (16 faith required to wield it), it's insanely powerful and to use the actual miracle you need 30 faith, as well as 10 sunlight medals for the Sun Bro covenant. I just switch the the Sunlight sword hit Sacred Oath, switch back to the Dark Sword hit Carthus and power on through any and all enemies in my way
