Yes and No.

If I was going to go on a homicidal rampage Id probably want a commercial manufactured gun that I can count on to be reliable. People obviously can buy them and use them to kill, already getting past the flimsy checks already.

I can see two reasons for this kind of gun. To commit crime or for people who really believe their own government is out to get them to stockpile 'untraceable' weapons in their basement or something against the day they government tries to collect all the registered guns.

As for the first kind, there are thousands of guns world wide that are 'traceable' in theory but get used to commit murders and will never be found regardless. I'm not sure organized crime is really desperate for a solution. As to the second type the stored gun is perhaps the least harmful.

In countries with tighter gun control laws they might be a problem, still I suspect many countries will be able to monitor who has 3D printers, what blueprints are they downloading and how much raw material do they use etc. Though the law will need to catch up.

Surely one imagines that this would actually lead to tighter control? Increased/improved control at the point of carrying/possessing, not at the point of sale. So in a way this bloke is shooting himself in the foot. Figuratively speaking (one hopes).
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

You stay classy, Mandalay Bay!

Short article about the casino preemptively suing the victims in order to get the case heard federally, or something like that.
This is a copy of a New York Post article (interestingly still under the news.com.au - Murdoch - banner), so a more in-depth US article would be welcome as I really don't get this at all.

If only they all had guns to protect themselves.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Thank god it was madden and not call of duty.

I don't think I am against gun ownership. Still I think if you are going to have the kind of carry license that lets you carry concealed you should have to prove quarterly or something that you have recently trained with the weapon and understand it. Although as I say it I imagine that's a lot of work for the average law abiding gun owner and nut jobs will still sneak through.

Did he lose his game and throw a lethal tantrum or was he always planning to kill?

EDIT- never mind, another case of a known mentally ill person allowed to legally buy firearms without raising any red flags

It is mind-boggling that Trump has outspoken fantasies of how a gun massacre can be avoided by a gun-carrying vigilante, but players being gun-carrying vigilantes in most games apparently turns them into violent killers.

Well, the other admin on the meme shitpost page I run linked a weet from a Tariq Nasheed (no clue who that is) directly stating "This person was made violent by games".

Cause - yes, he lost as it happens. Usually in tourneys if someone takes a loss, they'll take it on the chin and move on. To flip like that is worrying, but the fact they brought a fucking gun to a video games tournament is even more so. The only guns you should bring to a tourney are if you're a Noel main in BB (and then prepare to get bodied as she's low tier).

Tapper - no doubt it'll be the turn of Mario next.

Stastically speaking violent imagery has not been good for the human pysche, especially they way some of this shit pushes the normalency of violence.

Between that, socioeconomics and big pharma some communities don’t stand a chance. Until some of the shit we think is normal isn’t in society and people don’t support. I ain’t giving up a ounce of guns.

I think we as society need to have a honest discussion on killing people and what drives us down this path.... the emotional trigger are just as important as the pharmaceutical driven ones.

This kid had a history of violence and was prescribed SSRIs, it has been proven that mind bending drugs on a teen can create a rage monster phenomenon.

Sidebar: the main opioid companys are multiplying the cost of the drugs that let people get off them normally this week.

When are we going to realize that modern society entertainment, drugs, science, social media etc haven’t made us .. any better??? We had more available guns fifty years ago and kids weren’t wasting one another. Hell in 1960 .. fifty percent of American households had guns , they taught hunter safety in school and you didn’t need a background check. It wasn’t until 1966 when background check started that gun crime rose too. Sadly left wing policy guided us into a tripling of gun crimes. However.. America pre 1966 homicide rate is still lower then modern days.

What changed? Values maybe ?

It's so strange how all of the west have all of these factors and yet regular mass killings are uniquely an American phenomenon. If only we could point to one factor that is present in the US alone. Alas, what could that possibly be?

Well, in 1960 all you had in the form of assholes were dumbass greasers and pathetic letter jacket losers. You didn't have the kind of monsters with video cameras in their smartphones who'll secretly catch you on video and use that footage to humiliate you all over the world via the internet.

We do have that now and I can imagine some of the victims of such abuse to feel some kind of way about that.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Absolutely!

Also, a quick google search tells me that Nico's numbers are fictional, so that's something to keep in mind too. There was an increase in crime rates from 1960-1980, but from there on it fell substantially, and from what I can tell crime rates are lower now than they were in 1960.
