Still remember she recieved a curse/prophecy "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east," said Mirri Maz Duur. "When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before."

We have a Martell who sailed west to east and died, the Dothraki sea is experiencing a drought, the mountain died but also the brick pyramids of Mereen are being broken (this part is tricky). I believe Danny in her last pov chapter in the last book describes bleeding between her legs. We are meant to possibly fear she has the Pale Mare plague but it could instead be menstration blood.

Yeah, I keep forgetting there is an out for that prophecy. I wonder how the show would handle it, though. Maybe with Trystane, since Jaime decided not to kill him?

If its from Dorne and not the Viper its forgettable.

Amen to that. They should have left the whole Dorne subplot out of the movie since it was no more than a buddy roadtrip, a bad pussy, and a killing spree. They could have sent Jaime and Bronn to the Riverlands where at least Jaime belonged anyway, and if they were so deadset to change Ellaria, the voice of reason in the books, into a revenge goddess, they could have kept her in King's Landing after Oberyn's death. Doran was a waste of a good actor, and the Sand Snakes only lacked black leather to become torture nymphs out of a Goodkind novel. :thumbsup:

My brother, who has seen the show and read only book one so far, has a rather unconventional take on R+L=J

He says that Lyanna birthed twins, Ned took one back as Jon, while Lyanna, who survived, fled Westeros later with the other one.

He has not read ADWD but this had me thinking about fAegon and the mysterious Septa...

I find that rather .... wildly unlikely.

It would be silly to have Aegon actually be a Targaryen but not the one which people think. Lyanna would not make much of a Septa (being raised to worship the old gods), and if she is really dying she would give Ned both kids, and if not why would she give either? Ned had to complicate his marriage and lie to his friend and King, and the kid still would have been safer across the narrow sea if that were an option.

Does make for a funny Yoda visual though. Jon .... there ... is ... another .... Stark

What they've done to the Dorne storyline is a fucking abomination. On top of other major changes I'm seriously considering stopping watching this. Dorne is complete bullshit.

Never going to happen. They haven't got the rights and George has said he won't sell them, and there won't be a prequel series of books or short stories about it. His reasoning is that the Rebellion is important for several things that happened during it, and the full details of those events will be explained in full in the books themselves. The rest will be joining up the dots, which he considers to be uninteresting.

Yeah, it differs from person to person. I picked up on R+L=J on my first read; it was like Taimandred for me. Tyrion, I didn't start thinking about until probably my second or third read.

I find that in any fantasy book, when there's a prophecy, dream vision or.. deck reading, I bookmark it and check back occasionally. I love Malazan for that, it makes rereading interesting too.

GoTs was no different; Danys visions were really creepy to look back on, there was even a glimpse of the RW, and Robs fate. The dragon with three heads thing stuck out to me so I've been assuming something will come of it since then.

Tower of the Hand have a pretty good breakdown of the R+L=J evidence - you have to set the menu at the top for how far into the books you've read before it will show the content - http://towerofthehan...ws_parents.html

I seem to recall thinking that there were several times in the first book Ned could easily have referred to Jon as his son in internal monologues but never does - even out loud it's "you have my blood" not "you're my son". It was a second read where I really started joining dots and picking up on a lot of what's in the breakdown I just linked.

The show only really started to drop hints last series - the one that sticks in my head is Sansa recounting the story of Rhaegar abducting Lyanna and Littlefinger's face being rather disbelieving and his response is very non-committal. There was another instance of it in (I think) the same episode, but hopefully somebody has a better memory than me because I can't for the life of me think what it was.

@BK: There's TONS of Rebellion stuff in the lore cartoons on the discs. You can find them on Youtube using "GoT lore", and each season's entire set should be there (conveniently compiled in one video per season).
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Sansa will definitely one day be queen.
Let's not forget our good friend Grif too, although that could be a red herring.

I DO believe that GRRM got cold feet when his fanbase figured out all his careful plotting... and now is trying to change the game on us or one-up himself, when in truth he needs to just write the prophecies AS THEY ARE and let everyone enjoy the cleanliness of it. Not everything has to be M. Night Shamal-ALIENS!

Sansa is the Kaladin of GOT. The one character I actively hope snuffs it. Can't stand her at all.

Which is precisely why it seems likely she'll actually end up queen. She's certainly impossible to like in AGOT but like all the other characters, she's meant to grow. She's paid over and over again for her stupidity and she was young when she made those mistakes. She and Tyrion are another Ice and Fire couple, too, assuming Tyrion=Targ. She was the Ice Queen and the Cold Fish on their wedding night, but she was young, and stupid. And Tyrion basically saw her as a child, despite the custom that dictated she was beddable.

There's room for them to actually fall in love and for Tyrion to be Dany's legitimized heir before she dies. Again, it's really hard to see Jon on the Iron Throne. He wasn't scripted for that role. He was scripted for the North, and the True Battle. Dany was scripted for the Iron Throne, but she's the bright fire that burns out quickly, and Tyrion is the one who actually has the experience of ruling in King's Landing.

In my mind, it's either Tyrion, or no one; I can see the Iron Throne being irrelevant in the end. It's hard to see it ending with Dany on the throne; even as someone who often questions the trufandom on this point, I think that's too pat for GRRM.
