You need to gain a few more levels I think. I've been told that the synagogue grind is especially exp efficient.

Maybe Westeros isn't that big. Don't children like cross back and forth across England several times a day playing hoop and stick or whatever the hell British kids do for fun? And this world is probably like the moon of a Pluto sized planet.

Martinworld is slightly bigger than our world and the size of Westeros is pretty well-established.

However, there is evidence that the TV version of Westeros is significantly smaller than in the books, which would explain a lot.

Because a year passed between the two books. That's one time that Erikson DID explain the timeline :Rodeo:

The real question is how did the Barghast get to Lether some years before they left Genebackis.

Does anyone think the Doom of Valyria is gonna fold back into the macro plot? In the books, if not in the show? I know the obvious inspiration is Pompeii, but so much about the Doom seems caused/man-made, and of course potentially linked with Fire.

Book wise def. TV wise not sure. There is strong evidence that the proto faceless men cult doomed. Valyria. Possibly by assassinating the masters/makes who Kept the volcanoes under control. Possibly something ever more complicated. I suspect that they know a lot more about the history and inner workings of the world than almost anybody.

The show has also so far glossed over the idea that the maesters possibly poisoned the dragons to destroy magic in the world. And now we have a a faceless men in the citadel.

The return of dragons has awakened magic. The pyromancers, the faceless men, the warlocks and shadow binders should all Be growing in power. Won't make sense unless they act. What will a cult. Dedicated To death do with more power?

And if the maesters. Killed dragons before they may want to do it again.

PS did Martin confirm if the white walkers creation by forest children is canon in the books?

The northern parts of Westeros.org are a strange, awful place where the sane should never venture.

Not surprised. Lots of old school ASOIAF fans didn't want to believe it; I've seen some of them whining about the logic of it (though clearly they accept that it's true now).

Real old-school ASoIaF fans accepted it as true a decade ago :Rodeo: There were some crazy hold-outs who believed that Jon wasn't Rhaegar and Lyanna's child, that the Others are time-travellers and that Euron is a shapechanging kraken, but fortunately they're few and far between. It was more the newcomer fans who seemed more doubtful, but there was an element of contrarianism there (there's a particular tinfoil theorist called Jacobs who makes the most ludicrous YouTube videos about the craziest theory and seems to have made a bit of money from doing so).

ha, I remember reading debates about it on Westeros long before there was a show. It was one of the first theories I looked up when I read the books the first time (which I think was about a year before AFFC came out).

Wow that episode was a great way to finish! So many ace points already covered up thread & I don't think I can add much more to the discussion. The only bit that threw me out was Varys but I think someone explained it quite well somewhere else. I wish they hadn't put him in there cos it generated a lot of discussion - I didn't notice the Tyrrell/Martell flags on the ships hence my confusion - I feel like it would have been easier just to not have him in shot.

Otherwise, great ending. Had a blast watching it, I was positively cheering when all the Lords pledged to Jon!

Interesting to see where they take it now. Can't help but think Cersei must have a plan, she always looks out for herself. Jaime will ruin that plan methinks but someone will have to take out Frankenmountain first...

Fanfic moment: Jaime chokes Cersei in her bedchamber. Frankenmountain hears a struggle and comes into the room to save Cersei. Arya appears, wearing that same face from the Twins, and stabs Gregor in the back. Or something. The victors stare at each other appreciatively...

Much as you might ship it, I just don't see that particular pairing happening. No matter how awesomely she might take out Frankenmountain...
