Not sure where to put this on the board - but it involves (lots) of Malazan characters and some of mine, so I'll put it here and let you guys repost it if you want.

Best Fantasy characters ever? You get 3 votes - if your guy's not on the list add them.

http://www.bestfanta...ion-characters/

Over 5000 votes from more than 1500 people so far!

I went for Tyrion, Cugel the Clever, and Kvothe.

Interesting to note that he never voted for his own creations. I doubt if I was published i'd be so reticent.

Still, there you go people.....

Let's get voting for Quick Ben :harhar:
meh. Link was dead :(

I picked

Caine. Fucking number fucking one right there.

Tehol/Bugg because that was an option 😈

Matt Cauthon. He was always my favourite in that series.

Malazan's rise up to the challenge and crown Bugg, the greatest of all fantasy gods.

if there was one god, who I would like to be my servant, it would be Bugg :-)

I went with Fiddler, The Fool, and Taran (assistant pig-keeper).
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I went with Caine, Karsa, and a write-in for Bel-ka-Trazet (from Shardik).
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Wife complains that Will Parry from His Dark Materials is not in the list but Lyra is. When Will has way more character.

I went with Rake, Caine, and Kelsier from Mistborn.

I thought about Icarium and other Malazan characters, but I figured Rake had the best chance of placing high.

That's a minefield right there..

I really wanted to make an objective vote, but went with malazan characters only in the end.
Puck was not birthed, she was cleaved from a lava flow and shaped by a fierce god's hands. - [worry]
Ninja Puck, Ninja Puck, really doesn't give a fuck..? - [King Lear]

This was seriously hard to choose...

Went with Rake, because while Fid is my personal fave of the series, Rake is the most epic;
Conan, because he's Conan and most sword & sorcery heroes and all of the barbarians owe him to some degree; and
Caine, because despite how criminally under-appreciated AoC is, it's the fucking fuck.

Kind of neat to see Allanon in the top three... seriously considered voting for him, tho if i were going with a Shannara choice Garet Jax probably would have been it for a character only briefly in the series who utterly stole the show.
Tyrion Lannister was another possibility, for his sheer non-traditionalness.

Not surprising but perhaps telling, Arya is the highest ranked female character at #13 so far, next is Vin 15 spots later (and below Richard Rahl, which made me vimm just a little).

Aragorn (hey, it's my son's third name), Quick Ben and Tyrion Lannister.

I was going to add Ashraf Bey (John Courtney Grimwood "Arabesk" trilogy) and vote for him but I wasn't sure if he was "fantasy" enough for that list.

28 votes for Nynaeve al'Braidtug is 28 more than I expected. :harhar:

@Abyss
Agreed on Garet Jax.

Looks like Erikson is suffering from too many good characters. Lots of Malazan vote but it is split.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Holy crap, too difficult, cannot choose. I will abstain and then bemoan and tut at all your choices afterwards.
Even though obviously the winner should be Death from Discworld.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

The fact that Alanon is second says bad things about the general makeup of the vote so far.

I went for Sam Vimes, Fiddler and Arya (was tempted to go for other: Ash, but Arya's actually in the poll and just as good, so...).
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Very difficult to choose. I could have voted for at least 6 people.

Went with Rake, Sam Vimes, Tehol/Bugg.

Wanted to include Fiddler, Quick ben, Death

Went with Fiddler, The Fool and Druss the Legend, but wavered about for quite a while. That is truly difficult!
