Couple more episodes in.

These have been more low key. Build up. Introductions of people I won't spoil. At times the show seems pretty clever and innovative in terms of the tropes they're using. At other times it seems a but too generic.

I love the way they have introduced Fisk. Not as the monster he is but as an insecure man, looking for love, careful about his image, etc. But this is mirrored by the way everyone around him talks about him.

I really like that his introduction is his first meeting with Vanessa, his true love. Feels like they're doing right with the character. Not just treating him as a big bad.

I am curious to see what happens when he goes dark...

EDIT: Oh wait, the episode wasn't over. Holy fucking shit.

I am surprised at how aggressive Fisk is being. Blowing up whole neighbourhoods seems a bit more flashy than the Fisk I remember from reading comics as a kid. But I guess we are in a newer, more violent generation of fiction. Mere threats and rough housing isn't scary any longer.

So the reason why Murdock sucks at fighting is because he was never fully trained by Stick? And Frank Millers Ninja angle is dropped but tied in anyway? I dislike this quite a bit but what ever, it's a new version.

Who was the guy with the pentagram like scars on the back at the end? I haven't read enough Daredevil to recognize this fellow. In the daredevil and Stick related stuff, Stick was always the "leader".

I am guessing this "Hand" related stuff will be the major plotline in season 2 if one is produced.

Poor choice. Too carbohydrate heavy. You've got the simple sugar carb with the cola and the dense slow carb of the pizzas. A sugar rush, followed by a sugar crash coupled with the sleep coma induced by the dense pizza dough. By the 5th episode you're going to be logy and you're brain is going to check out and we need your precise/sharp analysis of each and every episode dammit. Here's a protip: Is there a a sushi restaurant that delivers nearby? If so, get an order into them stat! Get some fresh sushi into your system. If not, then take a quick break and get to the store for some sardines or pickled herring. You need to mainline omega 3 directly into your brain to get it back to the ever observant power house that has become legend.

We actually had to stop. Friends wife called. She was out on the town and felt ill so she needed him to come pick her up and take care of her.

Infernal woman must have been jealous of all the Daredevil awesomeness. Daredevil Marathon picks up again tomorrow morning or when ever he manages to sneak out of the house.

Ended on a real high note as well. Episode 8 is all about Fisk and his origin. I remember reading a variation of this in the comics but where they go with it and how they tie it into who Fisk is and what drives him is fantastic.

The Fisk they have created here is a strange and fascinating creature. Some kind monstrous child.

The writers have been very smart about this show. The flashbacks are well timed, the pacing never stalls entirely and the four most fascinating characters are Kingpin, Karen Page, Ben Urich and Matt Murdock. Each is perfectly cast and each has their own drive, story arc and ability to make things happen.

I stopped after Episode Six and I'm immensely satisfied.

Daredevil gpt pillow fists tho. He's one shotted exactly nobody without a serious gravity boost or a weapon.

Vincent D'Onofrio was the perfect get for Kingpin, as this show presents the character.

Honestly, the difference between Daredevil and Kingpin is that Kingpin is ok with murder, drug trafficking and human trafficking. They're both brutal, they're both insecure and they're both constantly seeking to protect those they love while doing a very shitty job of that.

This is a track I like very much as a viewer/buyer.

It's a very weird thing for me to see Marvel take the Disney money, retain some of the Disney rules, yet consistently knock the stories out of the park while doing better and better jobs of maintaining diversity and not letting Frank Miller's social takes get too strong.

I don't know if we've ever seen anything like this. Not even Pixar did this.

Daredevil marathon resumes with bagels and coffee.

I like that they have started to go into the duality of The Daredevil and the Kingpin. However I also feel like the show is keeping the tone and the acting light enough that the deeper and darker parts of the Daredevil comics lose their impact.

Like Amphibian mentions I'd perhaps like a bit more social analysis of Hell's Kitchen and the people who live there. A bit more actual lawyer work to give insight into the city. A bit more philosophy. And yet I still think they are doing a great job with the show.

I really enjoy how incredibly violent Daredevil can be.

Episode 9 offered some much needed release of the tension that has built up.

The fight with Nobu more or less confirmed my fears that Daredevil is being grounded so much in the believable that he doesn't really stand a chance against an expert hand to hand combatant. Which is fucking stupid because his senses are supposed to make him more or less omniscient when it comes to his surroundings and the tells an opponent has.

They've shown him being taken by surprise two times already which is idiotic. He would sense your pulse quickening or the intake of breath, etc. before you'd have the chance to surprise him.

I'm excited to see they just skipped 6 seasons of keeping his identity a secret from Foggy. It's going to make things less stupid.

Awh man, things are going to get really dark. I just realised that this is just as much the origin of the Kingpin we know as the Daredevil we know.

As soon as Vanessa was introduced I knew she would get put in a sickbed. I just didn't realise they'd do it this fast and it works. What the chinese lady said, that Wilson needs to choose between the light and the dark. Vanessa was making Wilson soft, now the attack will make him a monster.

I also realized who the tailor is. When he threw that saw blade it clicked. The motherfucking Gladiator. Interesting that again, he's not as physically imposing as you'd expect from the comics but he has some kind of retard strength. I wonder where they'll go with that.

I somehow feel that opening of the season promised something better than what it finished with.

The ending felt rushed and it felt generic. Oh look, the team has a quarrel and they split up and things are bad for a while and then they make up and work together again. Yaaawwn.

I also don't buy Fisk's empire being dismantled this easily. In fact I find it pretty silly that Fisk ends up going public and being as hands-on as he becomes. Fisk's own associates even comment on this. It just felt far too sloppy and easy to me. The sinister shadow conspiracy turns out to something less than it appeared. As though the writers had an end goal for the season and just wrote up the simplest way to get there. Felt too generic.

I don't think the show ever reached the same hight as it did in episode 2. The final showdown between Daredevil and Kingpin could have been more powerful I feel but I guess it was more symbolic. Beaten down and on the run. Signifying the completion of Daredevils destiny... or some such bullshit. I just wanted more. More build up. More mind games. More punching each other in the face.

That said the combat, all though at times a bit too theatrical, was brutal and visceral. Tons of broken bones and meaty punches. I can't say I like how "weak" Daredevil is in a fight but on the other hand it makes ever fight that much more gruelling.

In terms of acting I feel that every single character in this show is a great casting. Everything works so well it seems seamless. I feel like the casting for Ulric especially was spot on, right down to the wrinkles on his face. Who ever the guy that plays Foggy is, that guy has a promising career in front of him. He's a charming son of a bitch.

In the end I feel like the season served to build the foundation of the relationship between the Daredevil and the Kingpin. I wonder where the hell they take the show from here.

Obviously the Kingpin will still be working from Prison. But will there be more focus on the Ninja stuff? Maybe the Kingpin sends Bullseye or Electra after the Daredevil?

There's also the darker part of Daredevils history they could use but I feel like that is material for season 3 or 4.

Finished the series. Everything was superb until episode 13 camera hijinks. The costume was a solid "meh" for me. All in all a solid 9.5/10 the last 20 minutes or would of ep 13 was the only drawback in an utterly engaging series.

Also, did anyone else catch the K'un L'un reference in episode 12?

I need to learn to put up spoiler tags. The part of my brain that deals in rampant speculation is in overdrive. Deaths that I thought were coming didn't happen. That completed suit though...

IMO Fisk was hiding until he actually got arrested. I have no clue why he thrust himself into the public eye, but he also did have everything from his past swept under the rug. The final action scene was good, but they tried to give it a cinematic sense of scale that makes the last sequences feel disjointed from the rest of the series. From the start forward there weren't too many cut-aways during action sequences. Even the action sequence at the end of episode 3(I think) which was sloppy(by design) was superior to the second Kingpin/Daredevil clash. Ben Urich's death was completely unexpected(seeing as he's the best reporter in Marvel comics) and I'm surprised Karen Page survived the entire way.

I guess I'll get my thoughts in order and post later. Pesky things like showers and food somehow seem relevant again.

I was really shocked they killed Ulrich. That the Kingpin killed him didn't surprise me but sacrificing such an old Marvel character so readily was unexpected. However they weren't using him in the same way as the comics used to do either.

In the olden days Ulrich was as much an informant for Daredevil as a reporter. He was a contact with access to the underworld. In the show they completely dealt away with any subtlety and just showed Daredevil beating the information out of everyone.

As for Karen I think we all know what is coming. They set it up with the references to her past that Ulrich mentioned in passing and by showing her drinking a ton.
