The ending of this season makes tremendous sense.

Both the Kingpin and Daredevil have accepted what they need to be: a builder of plans for Hell's Kitchen and the defender of the innocent.

I will write more about this extensively, but there is great potential in the second season to do some very bad things in terms of sex workers/female autonomy with Karen. It has to do with the colossal piece of shit that is Frank Miller and how closely the showrunners hew to his work.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

What did Frank Miller do to raise your ire, Amph?

Motherfudger! I missed that last angle with the tailor. That's bloody brilliant!

There's also a pair of Stilt-man pants in his shop in the background at one point.

The Mrs and I finally saw the first ep. Not bad but not great. We're still kinda burned out on superheroes (Arrow, Flash, & SHIELD are still piled up on our DVR) so maybe this will renew our interest.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I enjoyed it. Up there with CA:TWS as the best highlight of the MCU for me.

We finished it yesterday and I thought it had great moments throughout the run to be honest. Thoughts spoilered below.

Spoiler

Can't wait for S2 or if he shows up in AKA Jessica Jones, or Iron Fist, or Luke Cage.

I really like this show so far, but It's sort of problematic that the least interesting acting performance is also the main character. I find myself waiting for the murdock scenes to be over so that we can get more of the other more interesting characters, and by that I mean mainly the Law and Order guy playing Fisk.

The GF decided midway through episode 2 that this show is not for her, and will not be binge watched. Her reasoning - the fight scenes take too long, there's a lot of them and they seem rather pointless as well - I can understand. I will finish it, on friday mornings or something, but mostly because I hear the Kingpin is great.

It's a very good show all round, my one complaint being that it has a tendency to keep scenes running longer than they really need to be- not cutting out of conversations at the optimal moment, a few too many repeated takedowns in the fights, etc. Everything else about is pretty stellar.

But the star of the show by far is Vincent D'Onofrio.

I think you're right, though I feel that everyone else was doing a great job, but yeah D'onofrio was the standout based around sheer chewing of scenery.

The episode 2 fight is the best DD fight I thought.

The one in the basement without cuts? Agreed, that was a really good fight, and great use of "off-screen" fighting aswell I thought.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Yeah. It's the most Hero worthy fight as he fights and fights and fights his way to back room and it's brutal the whole way.

Indeed, but I especially enjoyed the cinematography of the fight, it was spectacularly simple and well done at the same time.

Renewed for a second season. Only without the first season showrunner DeKnight as he has moved on to direct a feature film. His replacements worked on the show though, so all should be well. Second season will air in 2016.

It was good, but somehow all those goons forgot that there was a shotgun on the floor and at the least 1 handgun somewhere, and when everyone's down on the ground, the "don't want to cause collateral damage" angle doesn't really fly.

I'm struggling to get through episode 6.

I would give it a 7/10...

For a netflix show still seems very tame?

Vincent D'Onofrio saves the show to me.

Yes, it's partly funded by Netflix, however, Marvel/Disney also makes/funds it.

Disney has never made an R-rated movie. Marvel may make one in Deadpool, but that is uncertain at this point. They have not done so previously.

So that sort of gets into why Daredevil gets dark regarding violence, but really stays away from anything explicitly sex-based or psychologically deep/terrifying.

Yes, but only in name. Disney doesn't have a say from the studio level. They own the company that owns Deadpool (Marvel Entertainment...which is different from their own studio version Marvel Studios), but Fox's stake in the character screen rights goes back to before the merger of Disney and Marvel Ent. As such, Disney may control the company that controls Deadpool as a character...but they don't get to control the screen representation of him...that's all Fox.

This is why it was such a monumental thing for Sony to make a deal with Marvel Studios (Disney) to "allow" them to "use" Spiederman on screen for the future MCU flicks.
