That's funny, the first thing I thought of was the notwithstanding clause too. Dougie really opened a can of worms using it like that.

I doubt it'll stick either but you never know, Quebec is a weird place. They're not a big fan of outsiders especially immigrants I wouldn't be too surprised.
But even if it didn't, knowing their government is that opposed to these people and their beliefs is a scary thing.

It just seems like a trend because of the timing. Of all the provinces, Quebec has been bolded about using, threatening to use, and politicians promising to use that clause.

People on here like to complain about racist small town conservatives in Ontario, but they have nothing on rural Quebec, right wing and otherwise.

Unlike Doug Ford, this guy can actually argue he has a mandate for this nonsense.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

I think some of the more old school Quebecois politicians are just pissed that Ontario used it before they did.

Just learned of a 'Proudly NB' (organized by an NB expat in Alberta, and supported by a guy in Ontario) robocall campaign for the conservatives that is apparently pissing of a lot of Nbers.

What is it with conservatives and their robocalls lol? There is an obvious joke here I think

Since my Manager is throwing me and 2 other co-workers who had birthdays this week a party on the 22nd (municipal election day), I had to go and vote in advance today.

My Ward in the City is pretty basic, cuz they already elected a trustee by acclamation, and one of my classmates is running for Councillor, so that was a no-brainer.

But mayor.... OMFG. I actually decided to do research (as I always do)
There are 8 candidates (one of them is the current mayor)

1 has no Internet presence whatsoever

1 is a law school graduate campaigning off a Linkedin page

1 is a 3rd year University student ( though to be fair, he made an ok Wix website- but that really doesn't tell me much about his campaign or program)

2 are older professionals, (one is IT specialist, another has an engineering PHD from Cornell), but very little actual campaign info on their web sites, beyond some general slogans.

The remaining 2 also have web sites but one is a self-proclaimed conservative whom even Ford considers to be "too radical". The other is a young guy, running on some good ideas, but he actually held an AMA on Reddit and demonstrated that he doesn't really understand a lot of the stuff he's talking about.

I live in the 6th largest municipality in the country...and this is a joke. We don't have mayoral debates, and according to a redditor on a page dedicated to this. ( https://www.reddit.c...esearching_the/ ) my ward is the only one where all candidates made an actual effort in their campaign. It's really pathetic.

Holy smokes, Nova Scotia. Cannabis sales top $660,000 on Day 1

Happy legalization folks! For reference to the above posted article: Nova Scotia has only 12 locations selling cannabis in the entire province. In Halifax the stores are all apparently sold out! Can't wait to see what the tax revenue is after 1 year, it will be massively helpful for a have-not province (and therefore all the Atlantic provinces).

Has anyone here bought from a store yet? My friends have said it's been a gong show but I suspect other provinces have planned better than NS.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

That's hilarious.
But as far as I know we don't have any official stores yet in Ontario, it's all online at the moment.

I have a few friends who are enthusiasts. I can ask them.
(I don't use it myself, b/c I get self-conscious to the point of paranoia, and thus don't enjoy it. So drugs were never my thing).

Other than people whining about the price, the QC stores seem to have been ready. I hear. From friends.

Province of Ontario: We don't want an alleged sexual assaulter as Premier, so we will oust him as an option and elect a moronic populist bully in his place.

Patrick Brown got elected mayor. He is the same guy the provincial Tories forced to resign half a year abode to me too scandal, paving the way for Doug Ford.

So, considering the fact that GM was bailed out to the tune of like 13.7 BILLION in 2009...I find the shuttering of the Oshawa plant to be really troubling. You don't get a massive bailout (largest in Canadian history) and then shut those doors 9-10 years later during a global restructuring (and a 2.5billion$ profit report for the company). I feel like the government should be asking GM for a significant portion of that money back since they are basically fucking off with that much taxpayer money while not holding up their end of the deal.

And despite that it was the then Tory gov that gave GM the bailout, the opposition is crying foul at the Liberals for 'allowing' this to happen.

I expect nothing else from Scheer and his cronies to be honest. They are trying to blame everyone but Harper. And it's not even as if we can hold Harper entirely accountable, he was following Obama's lead in bailing out GM and Chrysler as he feared that if we didn't follow suit, they would pull all the work from us anyways. So it's hard to even hold HIM accountable (much as I'd like to).

But yeah, as far as I'm concerned....a 13.7Billion$ bailout should equal a LOT more than a decade of work.
