The Squad traditionally was made of of criminals and 'failed hero' types. Both were expendable tho the criminals tended to fare worse.
Iirc, Slipknot was one of the early casualties in the series, tho he may have just had his arm blown off.

Viola Davis. So skinnier than ideal (though the current comics version is young and thin), but otherwise seems pretty much right for the role.

First? Trailer is out. Looks cool but in terms of set-up I think it does a piss poor job of explanining the films focus.



Who is in the Suicide squad? The only ones who are immediatly identifiable to me was Harley Quinn and Killer Croc and Will Smith is either playing Deadpool Death Stroke or Bullseye Deadshot, I can't tell. EDIT: Actually they clearly show Deadshots helmet at one point.

But what is the premise? Are they fighting some big bad? Some shadow organisation? What is it? Anyone know what Suicide Squad story it might be based on?

It would be kind of cool if it was the Joker they were sent out to take down.

Also, they fucking lied about the Joker. Those are his teeth. Those are his tattoos. Urh.

What I appreciate the most is that the trailer uses a terrible MOR ironic "sad version" cover song in it. It really puts this on par with San Andreas, A Walk Among the Tombstones, and Dracula Untold. Some sad sack film studio ad exec watched Donnie Darko a dozen years too late and had one terrible idea that we're gonna have to live with forever now.

Uh, I'd be more inclined to look at the pedigree here with David Ayer in the directors chair (HARSH TIMES, STREET KINGS, END OF WATCH, and FURY....plus he wrote TRAINING DAY) and he's both writing and directing. I don't think that fits into a SAN ANDREAS type mode to be honest. Ayer is no fool, and he CERTAINLY doesn't make crap films en par with disaster porn.

So it turns out that the Joker's metal teeth caps and crowns have an in-DC/WB-universe reason. Batfleck apparently beat him within an inch of his life, destroying most of his teeth in the process when the Joker killed Robin. This is evidenced in the BvS trailer with the Robin Suit in the Batcave with the graffiti-ed words "HAHAHA the jokes on you Batman!" scrawled on it.

Surprisingly, as much as I hate the LOOK of it...that makes sense narratively and I think I'll be okay with it.

I can dig the explanation. HOWEVER, they told the media that all the Jokers tattoos and teeth were just part of a promotional shoot. They fucking lied about that. I detest when companies do this shit.

In their defense, they are a films studio attempting to keep their production under wraps. I would expect the Bat-BeatDown from Robin is an in-SuicideSquad reveal and as such they would want to play it down to keep it as under wraps as they can, you know?

It's not like they are a lying corporation. They are marketers keeping tabs on their property before it comes out. The end product hasn't changed, they just told you a lie about a production photo at an early interval.

To be fair, was that official word? I know it went about after the image was released that they'd said this, but I never saw anyone link to anything like an official statement or even an unofficial one from the directors or whatever.





Anyway, I think it looks really good, although I'm very unsure about Will Smith's Deadpool still.

They've also made a complete mess of Enchantress, obviously, but since I don't care about Enchantress (does anyone?) very much I'm not that fussed.

Harley, on the other hand, looks and sounds bang on, and it looks like she's the star of the show.


One slight worry- it seems we're going to see at least two origin/backstory sequences- Harley and Enchantress, and I think almost certainly Deadpool too. Hopefully they don't end up swamping the movie.
