Anyway, I think it looks really good, although I'm very unsure about Will Smith's Deadpool still.

Deadshot.

But yeah I think Smith likely pushed for his Deadshot to be FAR more sympathetic a character than he is in the comics. He'd rather be a hero, and considering the fact that he likely wouldn't sign a contract without script approval...he very likely got it. I'm not sure how I feel about that since Deadshot is supposed to be VERY gray.

And yeah I agree Harley steals this trailer out from under everybody. She's perfect.

I'm going to make that mistake so many times. I take consolation in the fact that I will undoubtedly not be alone.

You'd hope that Will Smith might be savvy enough to realise he can get just as much acclaim playing a semi-bad guy or the studio would realise that messing with Deadshot just to hire Will Smith is a bad idea, but yeah, it's a worry. But even if they get that right, he's just too polished a persona. Deadshot should be on-edge, twitchy and intense. Tom Hardy would have been great. Will Smith, not so much.

We'll see. Hopefully he doesn't ruin the movie even if he ruins the character.

Yeah, the loss of Tom Hardy was a big one.

Will Smith, for better and worse, has a very rigid idea of what he represents onscreen.

It's made him hundreds of millions and a reputation as one of the few bankable stars left. But it's crippled his performance range (and fed into his Scientology brainwashing).

I think he will reserve the Denzel Training Day roles for ten years hence, when he's actually old enough to not be Hollywood's idea of a romantic hero anymore.

(Hollywood is perfectly ok with 40+ yr men hooking up with 20+ women and that doesn't seem likely to change in Smith's case - see Focus)
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Will Smith is a scientologist too? ...didn't know that...

Yep. It's why his kids are always quoted saying such weird-ass shit.

So are Jason Lee (MALLRATS, MY NAME IS EARL), Jenna Elfman (she's a BAD one, upper echelon, deeply SeaOrg), Beck (the singer), Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson), Jason Dohring (VERONICA MARS), both Masterson brothers (THAT 70's SHOW, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE), Giovanni and Cynthia Ribisi (FRIENDS, DAZED AND CONFUSED), Laura Prepon (THAT 70's SHOW, OITNB), Greta Van Susteren (Newsperson from CNN)...those are the ones that I didn't know about til recently.

Will Smith isn't a scientologist, although rumours are he has sympathies in that direction.

I don't think his kids' weirdness has much to do with it though. I think that's just because him and his wife have basically let them have free reign and not corrected them on any ideas they have, so they've gone all spacey.

Neil Gaiman's family are scientologists but he isn't. Which I guess is pretty unusual.

I stand corrected. It does sound as if he's dabbled in it at points. He certainly has gone on record as learning about it form Cruise, who he is friends with.

Remember all, the new trailer comes out tonight during or after FLASH.

And to prepare you, here is the poster...which I must admit form a design standpoint is EXCELLENT.

New trailer. I like it. Still not sure who or what the big bad is. The Joker? What the hell is up with that car?

EDIT: The more I've thought about this film, the more confused I am about casting Will Smith as Deadshot. He seems like too big a name for the groups dynamic. I am not saying that he he is a better actor than the people in the Suicide Squad but his star power alone makes it strange.

It would be like putting The Rock or Tom Cruise or somebody into the Guardians of the Galaxy.

What's even odder, though gratifying, is that on all the evidence we have so far he is in no way being treated as the leading light, since Harley and Joker are clearly the stars of the show and he isn't the group leader either.

Maybe the idea is for a Deadshot solo movie later on.

Excellent trailer, though.

At around 1:51 is that Emma Watson? Playing the Jokers girl friend/ next victim/is she the one going into that pool of bad stuff?

Also: Weird cranial facial tatoo guy has seriously done a great job of milking his fame. From some nut job who ruined any chance of ever becoming a bank manager, to one role after another as a bad guy in big budget productions.

Good for him.

Don't ruin this for me, Worry. I want an uncomfortable S&M sex scene between the Joker and Hermione.

I would love to see Will Smith go for a genuine villain role. I mean, he must want to try out something like that too, and perhaps he's more comfortable doing so if he's not the leading actor of the film.

I think the implication is that Enchantress either purposely or accidentally summons something...and that something is the true villain of the piece in the third act. The Joker is A villain, but I think he's just a (pardon the pun) wild card and not the main event. It certainly doesn't take an entire team to take out the Joker.

Also, the Helicopter sequence and the crashed stuff is what my wife and I saw filming as we walked home one night from a Teppanyaki dinner in Yorkville. Neat to see it in action.

I think I MIGHT be more excited by the SQUAD than I am for BvS. There's just something so much fun about the look and feel of it so far.

Enchantress is certainly a possibility, probably the most likely one from what we know so far, although I think there's something vaguely technological (in a nanotech sort of way) about all the black creepy stuff. If I'm not seeing things, then I'd guess it might be something Apokalyptic.
The Joker's certainly not going to be the main bad guy. Apart from anything else, it'd be utterly ludicrous to include Harley on a team that's meant to take him out. Also, is it just me or does Jared Leto's Joker look weirdly like Matt Smith in more than one shot in the trailer?

We also haven't yet learned anything about what Katana is doing there. I'm gonna go with she might be their minder.

In fact, they've done a great job of releasing two trailers that do a great job of selling the Squad without actually giving very much away at all.
