Jim Butcher just tweeted that he has finished writing the first Cinder Spires book. So this is definitely going to be a thing now & I figured a thread could be made about the books for news, speculation & reviews once they come out.

I'm definitely excited for this series! Screen shot of said tweet:

I'm excited for every thing this guy writes.

I have one worry though. If he writes yet another main protagonist who is very clever but isn't able to make compromises and ruins every negotiation by being a smart mouth, I will be very crossed with Butcher.

I just saw this cover on Goodreads but I haven't seen it anywhere else, including Butcher's fan forum. Someone on his forum did say that the same guy who did Dresden's covers is doing these, so I think it's legit.

Looks like Robb Stark will be in this book.

It will be great to see him do something different once again but with his usual charm and wit.

More Magitech than steampuk I would say. Is Magitech a thing?

Felt like reading star trek the fantasy. Of course its Butcher and the man has more than earned my admiration so it will be a day one purchase.

So is this a 'Young Adult' series, like Sanderson's been pooping out, or is this full on Dresden 'adult' level stuff?

Supposed to be his magnum opus, so I'd say adult.

I read it.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I hope you're being facetious.

I thought it was really quite awesome. The world seems quite interesting, and I liked the characters and the whole scene really.

I'm more excited to read the book now than I was before.
