I think an open world Witcher type game would work for Broken Enpire. Like you're just a soldier type roaming the world and the like. Been a long time since I read them but I remember feeling that the bleak and magnificent setting would work well in this manner.

I was thinking something like that / Assassins Creed Valhalla type where you also build your war band (The Brothers) and you have the bit set piece battles too conquering towns and forts to go with story based big battles.

Also as a PC game it could be Total War with a world map and fighting factions selecting one of the players behind the scene as your "totem" giving you different skills.

To through in a FF tactics / Fire Emblem / Shining Force type game, grid based battles and RPG elementd with your Brothers just because I love those type games ha....

That’s great news. I’m trying to google but can’t find any info? The sequel to the girl and the stars?

How can they not release books simultaneously! That’s madness. Ebooks are a thing!

It was on the newsletter, aye the sequel called "The Girl and the Mountain."

I think it happened for the last release too iirc but unsure on the reason. VPN to the US is the answer if it is the same schedule for ebooks.

Cool thanks, mark lawrence newsletter?

I mean by not releasing simultaneously they encourage piracy. It’s why movies and tv shows now release world wide.

Aye, you can sign up for it via his website. It's pretty chill, 3 or 4 times a year giving updates on books, releases, covers and any other news relevant etc.

Re piracy, that was why Game of Thrones changed their episode release time due to the amount of times it was downloaded when releasing at different times. I wonder if there is a reason why it is set up like this. Piracy must seriously piss authors off.

Hi guys I got Red/Holy/Grey Sister for my birthday, very excited to read them - do I need to have read Red Queen's War or should I reread Broken Empire? Or are they unrelated (on face value at least)? Can I jump into them without issues?

It's a whole different world, no need to read or re-read the other series.

Just finished The Girl and The Mountain and for once Lawrence doesn't shy away from revealing a LOT of stuff. Sometimes directly and often not that directly. I need to collect my thoughts before writing my review. :)

Turns out that lots of things regarding that Reddit thread turned out to be true. Not everything, mind you, but that guy did great detective work.

Without giving away any details, it is now obvious that all of Mark Lawrence's works are related. And though we can't say for certain, it does appear that the Book of the Ice series occurs about 75-100 years prior to the Book of the Ancestor trilogy.

I wonder how many times, over the years I have felt jealous anger at your advance reading you do? ;)

I have fond memories of when SE's editor would send me page proofs of the Malazan novels for which there were no advance reading copies and I would then mess with your heads with fake revelations. . .

Good times! :p

Much salt was had by all in those times. I remember being furious when you revealed stuff that was perceived as being even mildly spoilerific.

What I've said about all the Lawrence's series being tied together is no joke, by the way. :)

We already knew it - it's blindingly obvious once you pay attention to a certain character name.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
