I read that yesterday. They guess flashbacks to Tower of Joy may feature in S6.

Howland Reed or Bran flashbacks through the Godswood trees?
“The others followed, and found themselves in a small, stuffy basement, which would have been damp, smelly, close, and dark, were it not, in fact, well-lit, which prevented it from being dark.”

"Because peer review can get ridiculous, another scientist suggested that no fewer than three major stars can account for the planet's orbital weirdness, or that it might actually be an exomoon orbiting a gas giant. We're sure we'll get a definitive answer when A Dream of Spring is released in 2047 by the son of Brandon Sanderson."

Im pretty sure its been confirmed to magical in nature.

Still I want to know how they survive. Even a year long winter, with lets say 6 months of darkness only. What will the deer eat? What Will the Direwolves eat? I understand that humans can stockpile food but the ecosystem should be dying.

i'm also curious as to whether or not the white walkers would be a threat to places as far south as dorne.

I thought winter arrived, which then allowed the Walkers to travel south. So they built the wall.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I've just begun a re-read (well, just hit Clash of Kings) and I've realised that Aegon might actually be a plot hole or something that was patched in later. I'm not sure what that means for his legitimancy or not, but here goes:

Been awhile since I've read but maybe only 1 of them is aware of the fact.

While I think it's highly possible that Aegon was "patched in" as RBB suggests, I also think one could interpret that Illyrio/Varys exchange as a key kernel of evidence undermining Aegon's legitimacy. Perhaps--sometime between that conversation in book 1 and the big Aegon reveal in book 5, Illyrio and Varys make the moves to get the ball rolling with Aegon as they realize that Dany is going to get mired in the far east.

Although as I type that I realize it makes no sense. With Connington and the GC et al in the picture it makes no sense timeline-wise.

How do you rape a cave? Do you ask, "You want to fuck, yes?" hear the echo come back, "Yes... es... es..." and get your barnacle-gouged groove on?

I considered that it was just me being nitpicky so I'm glad someone else thought it rung a little odd. I've no idea what to make of the timeline and the switch to Aegon, but my gut feeling would be the real Aegon should have been hinted at before.

Although, a quick read of Forum of Ice and Fire suggests the Golden Company are a big factor in the "fake Aegon" side of the debate. I'm personally in the "Aegon = Perkin Warbeck" camp, given Martin's fondness for the Wars of the Roses.

Ian McShane has reportedly been cast in a relatively small screen time but "key" role. I suppose it's not Randyll Tarly if they're keeping it a mystery.

Given up my re-read just shy of the Red Wedding. Kind of sad, I really loved these books when I was younger. I enjoyed the first, but since then it's started to feel stale and repetetive. I think I forgave a lot because I read them young enough that they were my first big series post- LOTR and Wheel of Time.

Good point. I wonder why he did that - as you say, it's uncharacteristic!
