Knowing Mexican fans, it probably was instigated by them. The types of Croatian to travel to the World Cup probably aren't going to start shit.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Luis Suarez must have some sort of mental health issue. He is an amazing footballer, but he has the emotional intelligence of a toddler. I'm being completely serious, I truly believe that mentally he has issues.

I saw the last 6 mins of that game (after the goal). Saw the highlights... yeah, what the hell is that?

Also, most ridiculous goal in the tourney so far.

Well, one of these teams had to be eliminated, and since they couldn't both lose, I'm glad it was Italy. I also caught about 6 mins at the end of first half, and 3 of those the camera was on Italian players lying on the ground, supposedly writhing in pain.

Mayhaps FIFA will look into the incident and ban Suarez from playing.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

See photo 8.

At first I thought Suarez had 'only' done a headbutting motion (which by the rules is enough for a red card by itself), but it looks like he actually did bite Chiellini.

Filthy cheating thug like I always said. Nothing will happen to him of course. The sooner he is out of the EPL the better, and the cries of the scousers when he does leave will be delicious.

Edit: here is me still wearing the shirt with pride.

Ha, Greece at its finest-scoring off a giveaway.

From the few 5 min glimpses I've had at the game, Ivory Coast has chances,, and Greek defense is pretty shaky, but no finishing.

Wouldn't be surprised if Drogba + Co manage another comeback.

EDIT: Holy crap, that was a great header from Japan. If they pull off a win, they're through no matter how the Greeks do.

Come on Greece you travesty of a World Cup team! I hate the way you play but I have you in the sweepstake, so you have to go through, no matter the blow to genuine class and skill.

In some ways, you have to admire their ability to completely kill a game against any team.

I only just heard that if Greece manage to hold on and qualify for the next round, they'll play Costa Rica. Jaysus, I can easily see Greece stifling Costa Rica and grinding out a result in that too. What a miserable team, and yet you have to admire their doggedness with fairly average players.

Penalty in stoppage time, bloody hell. That has to be so heartbreaking for the Ivorians.

But now my two sweepstake teams, Greece and Costa Rica, play each other. And to think at the start I thought they'd both finish bottom.

To be fair, Costa Rica are just as dogged but much more potent in attack, so hopefully they can deal with it. Want Joel Campbell to smash one in.

Also, James Rodriguez is such a boss, one of the players of the tournament so far. Came on at half time and absolutely crushed Japan with two quality assists and a stunning goal.

Imagine if they had Falcao as well. Terrifying.

hmmm

http://brazil-soccer...engthy-ban-seen

looks like that may have been his last WC game.

today's first rounds game seem to be pretty clearcut. Only real intrigue is whether Iran can beat Bosnia and squeeze past Nigeria into the finals.

I've got an Iranian buddy who promised he'd buy our entire team a round if Iran makes it, so i have a vested interest in hoping Iran wins, :p OTOH, Nigeria remains (for now) the only team that hasn't conceded a goal yet. Curious to see if Argentina can take them.

I don't think Spain was actively trying to beat up on Australia. They looked more like they were trying to 'gel' as a team and get their more direct version of offense working, as they start moving away from tiki taka.

The goals were more a byproduct, rather than the actual intent of the team.

That being said, Del Bosque's substitutions and line-up were really puzzling to me. Xabi Alonso probably played the worst out of any Spanish player this tourney and he still started and played the full 90. I liked Torres playing the full 90, because he provides a more direct option and I also liked Villa playing as in one game, he's reminded people that he's more dynamic than Pedro had shown in the two previous.

The young crop of Dutch midfielders/attackers looks like they'll produce a big star or two. Lens, Fer, Memphis and Blind are all excellent players.

Sad to see Villa so upset after - was his last game ever for Spain. But how good has he been for them.

I don't know about Lens, Memphis, and Blind - but Fer was generally terrible in the Premier League for Norwich this season (they were relegated). To be fair to him, though, the entire team was terrible.

What an atmosphere in the Mexico-Croatia game. Mexicans really making themselves heard. But come on Croatia! :p

You leave Fer alone, he had a crap team and clearly stood out, scoring a lot of goals for them.

You are not being Fer to him here.

He is a great family man, people I know see him out and about with his family and he is amazing with the kids and that but something in him must snap on the pitch. I have said he should wear a muzzle, how embarrassing would it be, having to wear one every game.

He's probably great with the little kids because he can relate to their behaviour.

Fer once bought a horse for his girlfriend despite her living in a city-center flat. Not a man who inspires much confidence...
