I don't see how that is karma, unless they cheated the Greeks somehow in the penalty shoot out.



Wasn't a fan of Krul's antics between kicks, and was surprised the ref didn't clamp down on it right away. 2 great saves though. Ruiz was a cert to miss the way he was labouring in extra time.

goddamn, that was a tense game. After that post and crossbar I fully expected Sneider to cave in and miss. Tim Krul did his job--read every shot, and got to the weaker ones, excellent job.

Re: Argentina-Belgium. Biggest problem Belgians seem to have is--they don't play as a team. Indivudually, they are full of incredibly talented legionnaires, but as a team, they're very average.

I really noticed this in the US game. It shows really well on their set pieces (esp corner kicks). Belgian team doesn't play as a team. At best you have a few players linking up and clicking.

I feel bad for Neymar, but now I really want to see a Netherlands-Germany final. An all-euro final in South America (and 2 northern European teams at that) will be like a dream come true.

I'd say the bigger problem was a lack of midfield muscle against Argentina and a lack of accuracy in the final third. I agree on the corners, but less that this was due to a lack of teamplay, more that the delivery was generally average-to-poor.

Holy crap! 7-0. This reminds me of the top youth club teams in my area when they happen to play the local YMCA team. Which, usually, the referee will call the game to spare the YMCA team any more humiliation. Fuckin' hell, and with Brazil hosting the World Cup too.

PS. just to add. If Basel didn't repeatedly try diving in the box instead of taking shots, I'd have pitied them. But I don't, not one bit. They've been the dirties team in the Cup, and until now their MVP was Refereenho.

I don't think it was, but seriously, it's like a perfect script.

On a serious note: forget Neymar, Silva clearly carried this team. I watched the last half of the Brazil-Mexico game (having 0 knowledge of the Brazilian team), and I could see that plain as day.

Brazilian D was in shambles the second they stepped on the field. Their marking was awful. Germans were strolling into the box unmarked.

Basically, if I was to put in one word the difference between the two teams it would be "vision". Germans are such an impressive team, because they always know where to pass and where to be to receive the pass.

The only person on the Brazillian team who could organize the squad to keep aware of where everyone was is, apparently, Silva.

Also, Brazillians needed to shoot on the first touch when in the box, but that's nothing compared to letting in seven (!!!!!!!!!!) goals.
