That is indeed a fantastic trailer.

The thing is, while I'm moderately excited for it... This should have been every dlc. And it should be the price of the other dlc. And it's still not going to have enough story. And the new content it adds will be wait-and-see but I suspect still limited.

The new subclasses and enemy types (I'm assuming types, not just one-off unique mini bosses) are the main things that sell this to me. Unless there is new and better explore content, that actually makes the game playable for more than two weeks while you grind the same missions repeatedly to get to the new level cap, those two things aren't going to be enough to make the purchase worthwhile.

The silly thing is that I'll probably still buy it. *sigh*

But that trailer is a masterpiece. No doubt.

The destiny servers are SHIT tonight. Been booted from them in THREE control matches...after more lag shit.

Irritating

My 'net has been shit all night. I feel like most of the country is streaming E3.

Oh, I never even thought of that...that's probably it.

Query:

Will buying the two expansion's help my character? I plan to buy them anyways, but I'm unsure of when I should buy them. Like do I benefit from buying them now as I'm still leveling up and doing Strikes ect.? Or does it not matter? On top of that, do I need to be a certain level to PLAY the Expansions?

You need both dlc to play the expansion though, I've heard. Might as well get them. How are you not level 20 yet?! XD

Yep need both. Dark was shit...

Man that Void Bow....I want it now! Somehow I knew the Warlock would get Sith Lightning lol. The Solar Hammer is my least fav but I have a feeling that's going to be the super to run from like the Arc Blade is now unless your own super is ready to unleash.

Yeah, looking forward to my lightning. I like the look of the bow, but I'm a bit sad it's void. There are a LOT more enemies with arc, or even solar, than with void. It makes sense to have it be void, but it makes me wonder why they forced certain damage types in the first place... Better if it had been optional. Not that it makes a huge difference in most cases, certainly not with mooks, but still.

What are peoples thoughts RE destinies growth. I'm still amazed that the game has no coherent story or even a coherent background on any of the factions. I can go to halopedia and read essays in which people describe the Covenant-Human war like they lived it but I still cant even find out what or who the fallen are?

Yup, it's a failure in that regard. The most common defence is that it's a work in progress/ten year story arc but that's rubbish. By the time we finish The Taken King we will have killed off the Hive more or less. In one year.

The whole thing is poorly handled, where most additional information is on a mobile app that nobody uses or wants to spend hours reading. Or on the Bungie website which, again, is not the right place. Even then, it's too piecemeal and bland to be comparable to the Halo 'verse.

What it all comes down to is that the world is underdeveloped and the enemies are nowhere near as diverse, or well coded, as what they had before. The gunplay is fantastic, the gameplay... Cookie cutter and no story to back it up. It's got huge potential, but there's been almost no hook to get it started or people invested. That's not a good thing.

Is it just me or did the damage get capped severely with that update yesterday??

My damage in the prison of elders did seem way down, especially as I was in the level 28 one. Had a level 33 in with us once and considering he was only one level up he seemed to wipe the floor compared to what we were doing. :S

Fucks sake. So I was doing the weekly strike, and the two players doing it with me had better weapons and armour...but I did my best and never shirked the duty....but I died mor than a few times....but the one guy kept hitting me with his melee after reviving me...and then after we won he stood there and repeatedly melee hit me.

I'm like, what the living FUCK is your problem asshole!?

Just use Thorn. Much more reliably devastating and fear-inducing. XD

And no, those two are coming with the rest of the "year one" exclusives when TTK releases... Just in time for a new round of ps exclusive content...

I just did my first ever strike yesterday...only it turned out that I had been put into a strike that was already about to finish. So I managed to die twice and kill zero things, and then it was over. Do you often get put into the middle of missions? Because that's super annoying. As intros to new mission types go, that was pretty deflating.

It's rare but it happens. If one of the three players drops out before the end of the strike, and you just happen to be logging into one, the servers might drop you into the almost done strike to replace the one person who left. It's happened to me once or twice.

Finally managed the Prison of Elders on level 32. Just me and my wingman, no backup. This week was definitely the easier of the bosses. Now I'm level 33. Couple more weeks of that and I'll be maxed out. :p

Now I just need to run the Vault of Glass and get the cool guns like Fatebringer and the Mythoclast. XD

I played with a friend of my wife's last night who told me a whole bunch of stuff I didn't know about my own gear.

The auto rifle I was using in PVP had no impact, which was why others would hit me once and take me out and I would have to unload an entire clip into them...so I've switched now to a pulse rifle (and fared better)....but it was discovered I have a SWEET Legendary shotgun (Judgement IV) which I've got about halfway upgraded now, the impact of which is nothing short of glorious. This has all helped me. Also, I did a strike which got me Thunderwhatever a second time, so he told me to dismantle the duplicate to get the exotic shard, which I then used to completely max out my main Thunderwhatever.

It's was a very big learning experience about upgrading my gear with stuff I have.

Also, he took me on a Nightfall strike, so I got some sort of thing that doubles my experience all week?

Anyways, a solid Destiny night all told. BK, we need to do another strike or go dominate in Control.

@QT - someone hasn't been reading the thread! :p

I believe the Nightfall experience buff isn't exactly double, but I forget how much it actually is... +75%, maybe?

What is annoying about this thread, is that it reminds me how many more people I 'know' who are on PS4. All but one of my Xbox One friends and forumites have stopped playing. :p

(don't blame them, Destiny became a huge slog prior to House of Wolves and only the allure of the Taken King is keeping it from going that way right now. But still, with all the stuff you need friends to do with in this game, it makes it difficult... Lol)
