So I have made it to light 290. I learnt the Trick is that loots drops according to your light level. So always decode England wearing your best gear even when it's not your best gear.

Still I take it From your post that at some point raids or The iron banner is the only way to advance?

Also does infuse work differently now? I kept reading about 80 percent infuse but so far they have all been 100percent

I really want to try the prison but yeah the matchmaking seems to never happen.

Im at light 290 now. 300 seems doable if I can just get a better ghost shell and artifact. Now that I am actually starting to get legendary engrams legendary marks grinding is speeding up. Exotics are still impossible to find.

Your best bet for Exotics is on the Weekend (Friday morn-Sunday morn) and purchasing them from Xur. It's where I got ALL my good exotics...they'll need infusing to beef them up from 280...but it's a good repository without worrying about the randomness of drops. I used to check out this site every weekend to find out Where Xur is and what he's selling. http://whereisxur.com/

I have heard that I should buy three of coins for him. Helps almost guarantee exotic drops from strike bosses apparently?

Otherwise I need to get legendary marks so I can buy the year 2 versions of Suros Regime or Bad juju. I can also get a thunderlord but I am of the opinion that id rather have a primary exotic than a heavy.

Do NOT buy 3 of coins from him. That's a scam, and never ever works. I've tried it and it didn't work.

Bad Juju is great, especially infused. Suros Regime is alright (it can be an armor piercer when aimed, but slows down the rate of fire so it's not as good as it could be)...but keep an eye out for Xur selling either Monte Carlo (seriously, this is my auto-rifle of choice and has been for most of the time I played), which when maxed out with he right perks is a mob-sweeping storm, or the Zhalo Super Cell...also an auto-rifle. For PvP you other exotic life savers will be the Mida-Multi Tool (which you can infuse out to like 319) which is a scout rifle killing machine as it's kickback is minimal compared to other scouts, and the reload speed is lightning fast...I was given the added perk of Third-Eye for that one (which allows you to see the radar while aimed). I also lucked out with 1000-Yard Stare Sniper rifle from Xur one week with the firefly perk (headshots explode)! Maxed out, it's probaly the finest Sniper I've ever used. So you can go like 5 weeks with Xur selling pretty much standard boring exotic fare (sidenote: I ALWAYS buy at least one or two items from him every week even if I don't want them, so I can dismantle them and get exotic shards to use on infusing exotics I DO want to keep), and then he'll be selling something amazeballs one week. Pretty sure that's how I got Bad Juju. And yes, a primary Exotic is a MUCH better option than a heavy. Especially because you can get both a sword as heavy that is good and not taking up an exotic slot AND a WAY decent rocket launcher from Iron Banner like Torumnds Bellows or the Ash Factory (This is the one I have, love it!)...and none take up that exotic slot. My characters have probably 6 exotic primaries each.

Really? Three of Coins is awesome. My wingman and I throw them on when we do strikes and stuff and our rate of exotic drops goes from basically 0 to like one every three strikes (and that's without sitting in the play list to get that bonus, too). Sometimes you get nothing but it definitely works better than not having them on.

I'd used them at least 10 times on strikes and got nada.

Really enjoying destiny.

Love the new swords. Sadly I think that the whole exotic get 25 kills in the Crucible quest nonsense is not gonna happen for me.

I really wish they would just ackwoledge that not everyone likes the pvp game modes.

On a related note why is getting ghost shells and relics so hard.

Hit light 300.

Re-PvP 25 kills...it's TOTALLY doable. You just have to get better at PvP in Destiny. When I started, I was a mess and it took months to get good. I like to think that by the time I gave the game up, I was pretty well elite in there and able to hang in the top 3 of any given round on any given game (mostly Control, but also Rift and Clash). Don't bother with the exotic sword upgrade questline (the exotic sword would remove you using an exotic primary, which made it a no-go for me)...the plain Legendary Sword maxed out stats-wise is good enough....and make sure to use the shield function (which is either right or left trigger) as you go up to people to take them out. It's got a rhythm to it, using the sword. But the end I was pretty unstoppable with it (compared to when I began with it) basically walking around with the shield deployed and only letting it down as I sliced someone into death.

Man, being on this thread makes me want to play again. LOL. My wife would kill me if I tried to find the game wherever she hid it (it's likely at her parents house to be honest) at my request. I'm HOPING to get back on sometime in the late summer.

Farming strange coins Is a breeze now. That said as much as I love destiny I don't see myself playing an hour a day every day for long. The whole daily strike thing still annoys me. Even worse I did the daily heroic story yesterday and never got my marks.

When destiny 2 rolls around I reckon it will be a great game. They are fixing a lot of there mistakes. If they can ever pit an actually story in place...

That's odd, because I played a bit last night and we won 75% of our games and had almost no red bar players (maybe one or two). I thought the IB always broke up teams based on performance in the past anyway.

Really I think Bungie may just need to start getting hard on people with regularly red connections. It's literally the worst.

Could be dif on Xbox but I've had hell for real on PS4 these 2 days. I've had red gods like mad every match

They did SBMN one other IB event for the 1st Clash I think it was and players raised hell so they went back to CBMM. People are calling it the AIDS of Destiny and saying the SB is what killed CoD but I don't play that. Go read some of the threads. People are foaming at the mouth.

So what people are saying is that they're upset they're losing now they are being matched against people based on skill? Blegh.

I understand that laggers and connection manipulators are annoying (I hate it myself) but Halo had a perfectly functional TrueSkill system that was skills-based and it didn't "kill" any competitive multiplayer. Quite the opposite in fact, it had active multiplayer for *years* across each game. If people want to talk about things killing Destiny, or the "AIDS" of Destiny, they should be talking about PVP weapon/armor balance and how it should be completely removed from PvE, or how there are clearly too many people with bad connections on the game.

Not that Destiny's matchmaking is great at skill-based algorithms compared to the ol' TrueSkill, but part of that is the fact that people can use random combinations of weapons and armor all over the place, part of it is the prevalence of connection manipulation, and part of it is that a certain, vocal portion of the IB crowd play Iron Banner for the kicks of beating other people. Plus it has to account for gearscore where you can be kicking ass in one game because of Light levels, and when you inevitably get matched with "better" players all you find yourself doing is playing people with higher Light levels (thus partially defeating the purpose of Light in the first place, if all 330s end up playing together it's not much different to vanilla Crucible) and then you lose.

What it all comes back to is that the whole thing has been done backwards and they need to get PvE balance separated from the entire PvE experience - and then basically bring Iron Banner in as a "whatever goes, goes" event where it's the *only* event that you can bring your personal gear to - don't care if they enable level advantages or not, the special factor should be running with your own loadout.

TL;DR - the bottom line is that Destiny PvP is still broken due to the myriad of loadouts and skills, red bars need to be dealt with, and IB is a mess because it doesn't know what it is.

My take on what it is is that it's matching people with KDs closely and the red gods are being able soar high in those numbers cause they can hardly be killed (and then their numbers grow) unless you get lucky so we are seeing more in match cause the KDs match and then we are dying easily. So it's not really true skill matching but just throwing people together with matching ratio numbers vs true kill count etc skill info. I'm reporting left and right and the same people show up the next match. It's annoying as fuck compared to the CBMM and it's obvious this event.

Good news is I learned I'm in a high skill lvl with KDs of 1.26, 1.24, & 1.36. I read today that only a small portion of the elite players are 1.5 and above appearently which I didn't know.

Yeah, that's probably exactly what it's doing - without the controlled environment of better PvP games (i.e. Halo) that's about all they can do to skill-match. The thing is, I don't think connection-based was doing much different as red bars don't do exceptionally well in general - they do decent (which is what a 1.0-1.5 K/D is) enough but they never truly wipe the floor with the good players, because if you're going 1.0K/D+ it means you're likely killing them as much as you would a normal opponent in a match you're winning - they just benefit from being able to pick off the easy kills without dying/taking much damage and therefore boost their K/D. AFAIK going red bar rarely makes you do much better than you would if you actually played the game properly, it just makes you annoying for everyone else (kinda like Bumper Jumper controls in Halo - it didn't make you *better*, it just made you normal but annoying to people who weren't expecting it).

Which is terrible, because it just comes back to the "need to do something about red bars" syndrome. Keep on reporting, but it's more important to have many people reporting one player than it is to have many reports that are one-on-one (i.e. there's not a lot of point in you reporting the same person over and over).

And incidentally, it's the community today that made me stop frequenting the Bnet forums - everyone on there is whining about about "skills based matchmaking" being the problem, in a very counterproductive, whiny manner. They all need to shut up and start complaining about red bar players exclusively - not even mention skills-based matchmaking as a cause of the issue. Because otherwise all you do is shunt the red bar problem down the line and split them up so there's one in every game instead of five in one game.

And, again, to make skills-based matchmaking better, GET THE GODDAMN PVE WEAPONS OUT OF PVP. Dammit, Bungie. XD

Still got to fame those exotic shsrds

I hope the iron lords give out another spark of light

Edit- My First Iron Banner!

I got owned in match 1. I ranked top in match 2. Given that i have the lowest light by about 20 points or so I feel pretty proud of this (not sure excatly how much it matters). Arc Caller Super is a death machine in the iron banner! Got garbage items though made me sad. And also only learnt about the iron banner shaders and banners and bounties afterwards!

It was novelty value when it started out - made it a whole "Oh, he does just randomly show up around the Tower". Now it's kinda pointless/everyone just checks online to find him, but they still do it because it's what Xur does.
