Not been on in a while, need to get me that IB gear, just need a helm to finish the set.

Not a fan of the new PS one at all, is the standard one still available?

Hopped on for a few hours and squeezed in 10 matches.

Filled all my weekly bounties bar reach rank 4/complete 14 matches.

I got both helmets one after the other, RNGesus has been pretty kind to me today.

The Iron Camelot helm is growing on me, but it doesn't go well with shaders :/

Didn't think the new class items were dropping? I got another of the old ones, some helmets, 2 haakons hatchets and 319 boots from my rank 5 package. That said I only have one character now, deleted the rest and sticking with one main. I just don't have time for 3 anymore.

Agreed. By that point I will have put 2 full years into the game (almost exclusively).

Any info on wtherher we can port our characters from Destiny 1 forward, or do we have to start all brand new?

Fuuuuuuck. Just got Red Spectre auto rifle (related to Red Death according to the description) and it it the goddamned bomb dignity! One of the perks is armour piercing...this thing cuts through everyone!

Double ugh Memento is in line up. I've gone to 2 matches and I've left them both. It's absolutely my least favorite map in game. I will leave it every time no matter what so if it's high on list I'm really going to have a tough IB event for sure.

For me Rift largely depends on Map (Memento is particularly shit for Rift, so is Frontier), and the teammates you end up with. I don't think enough people understand that you get points just for running with the spark (every step towards their rift gets you points whether you ignite it or not). I've been on teams that just GET how Rift ought to be played (one or two defensive guys should hang back near the Rift in case the enemy gets the spark and move forward in opposite directions if they do, there should be more than one person AT the spark as it becomes available in case one gets taken out someone else can grab, and here's the one that gets me that not a lot of people do...there should be offensive guys with the runner (in FRONT of them) taking out what stands in their way. I will (for exmaple) save my Stormcaller Super for offense when someone else gets the spark...you can pretty much cut them a clear line to the enemy rift with that activated. But I've been on multiple matched teams that feature people who just treat it as a free for all and pay no attention to tactics.

Basically I treat it like this. If I spawn and the Spark is close to becoming available then I hang back by the rift in case the enemy gets it, if I spawn and the spark is 20-30 secs away from becoming available I'll run to it, and either become the runner, or run offense for the runner, and if the enemy gets the spark I will do my best to take that runner out immediately. Everyone should play this way (and I've been on teams where they do, and we usually TROUNCE the other team), but man last week I was on team after team that didn't have a clue. One match, I was the runner every time, and ignited their rift at least 4 times with little to no support (offense)...and our Rift got ignited like 6 times, and I'm like..."Are you fucking KIDDING me? Where the hell was defense?"

Destiny is feeling a bit stagnant at the moment for me.

Breathe Tanner breathe. Oh it's going to be a long week. I really hope this is the last Rift IB. People need to actually talk in this game mode and no one does so far today.

Best advice that I can give...Grab that spark man. MAKE the win happen if no one else is. Run with it. I find that if you grab it and run back towards your own rift and then take a circuitous route to their rift, you'll likely confuse the shit out of them. It's what I do.

Also, don't underestimate the fact that when you come up to their rift if they have defenders, they still have to hit you...make yourself a harder target, jump, dodge, slide ect. Anything to get you closer to the rift. Remember you get points just for running.

I played about 5 matches yesterday and won 4 of them. The one we lost the other team was just better organized. Overall I'm having fun...but then I usually enjoy Rift. I'll admit it's VERY odd to play Rift on IB. I'm SO used to Control for IB.

Last night was a SHIT-SHOW of the highest order in IB.

I played about 5 matches, and 4 of them went south HARD. In the ones we lost, it was a two-fold fuckery that caused it:

1. Fucking Shotgun sliders. I'm already sick of these MFers in regular PvP (though I've learned now that if I even see someone start to slide at me I level my weapon down and unload into their face while I prepare my melee to their cheap heads), but to see them start to proliferate in IB Rift because they can't play the game in any normal way is irritating. But basically what started happening was that if I made it within jumping distance of their rift they would use shotgun (Destiny shotguns range is stupid OPed) and one shot kill me when I'm at full power. With a gun that should only be able to one-shot kill me when I'm 5 feet away, they are doing at 12 feet.

2. Though the above is irritating as fuck and is part of the reason that things didn't go well...this second reason is bigger. NO ONE on defense. Seriously, they ignited our rift too easily every time and I decided to hang back once I spawned and see how hung back for defense...NO ONE. Look, if your super is ready, and you just spawned and have no chance of making it to the spark for running or offense...they hang back and defend. Simple.

BK, I don't think there is anything wrong with you not running the spark and just taking people out as long as it's in service to your team. In fact I wish more people did like you and ran offense against the other team on that level.

EDIT: Also, visiting the bungie forums and you're right BK...VERY few people there like Solo's on Rift or IB in general. I seem to think I do damned well considering I solo it. I carry the spark and score at least 60% of the time, usually come in 1st or second for objective in the stats after, and carry the team a lot of the time. But I see people posting at the forums saying shit like "If you're solo, don't play." or "if you're a warlock without _____ enabled, don't bother taking the spark"...or (and this is my fave bullshit statement, because of how uselessly untrue it is) "Don't just grab the spark and run, wait for your teammates to clear the way"....yeah chuckles..in a perfect world sure...but with a team of Randoms I ALWAYS have a better chance when I just grab it, backtrack, and run routes that they would not expect. Score that way MOST of the time. I get that it's ideal to have offense running interception for you ahead of you...but 9 times out of ten you can't count on that. I'd rather run back where I came from and take a fresh route.

Ugh. So I discovered something. I've been running IB bounties which means I'm not the Runner...guess what? We lose bad if I don't do the running. While I've been doing bounties have lost every match AND no one is grabbing the spark.

It's even better when you get 5 of the 6 guys who's rift you igited killed in the blast, AND then kill the 6th who's trying to take you out for revenge. It feels pretty sweet to swagger out of their end after that.
