You probably added your points up cf without taking into account that by taking gc that is an 8 point swing. That's massive. You gain 4 from twelve and he loses 4. Yet you chose the option to potentially gain 3? 5? But take none from him. We thought we'd do you a favour by attacking the double ancients. Gnaw dud his bit too. Yet you chickened out on your last move.

I'm disappointed I was hoping for an epic GC battle, and it was pretty much yours for the taking. I've not done the maths, but I don't think you can win now unless you are very lucky.

Ok, so 10+ points from d'rek's and tatts' homeworld, plus a currently empty combat VP track and 5 battles pending means nothing?

I was at 24 points I think, that means i only had to catch up 16 points total to get to where Twelve was at. That was the idea anyway. Was I way off on that?

Meh, maybe it was a miscalculation. I knew a big part of it was to fill that combat VP track (currently 4 empty spots). Going for the GC would have meant I could at most fill up 1 or 2 of them, which I calculated would be less net gain than filling up all 4 slots.

The point swing wasn't lost on me -- just thought there might be a better way to go about it all.

I thought twelve was 20+ ahead of you? if not then your moves are good, but you are more dependent on the results of tatts and gnaws battles, by my calculations you have +15 points guaranteed and are dependent on luck for anything more.

That said all 4 cruisers in the GC would have given you very high odds of winning, you'd definitely have 8 unopposed shots (of which you'd only need 4 to hit), then your remaining ships fire before twelves starbases. And it would have been EPIC!
