[End of Disc One]

So I just spent the last hour browsing Coppermind (wiki) and figuring out what the chart at the front of the WoK hardback means, among other things. Damn I can't wait to continue this series.

I think the thing I'm most excited to see is how Kaladin and Amaram's first meeting will go! It's going to be crazypants for sure! I also think the Eshonai the Parshendi POV has a lot of potential to be extremely cool!

Reading through the first book again, and I maintain that Shallan doesn't become an interesting character until about 3/4 through the book. Essentially when Jasnah kills those footpads.

Kaladin is going to attack man-ram. Manram is probably in his plate, Adolin and ... third son whos name I can't remember but who is probably going to be the most important person in the story are both going to be there and defend Man-ram, and it will cause more strife between Kaladin and Adolin, and possibly between Dalinar and Kaladin. Hopefully it ends with Dalinar 'taking' man-rams plate and executing him, causing the breach of trust between Kaladin and Dalinar to end.

Besides that confrontation, the other super-interesting thing to me is what is in the chapter we missed (7 I think?) and what is going on with the ship that Jasnah and Shallan are on.

But then I enjoyed reading about her scholarly pursuits. I found her 100% enthralling from page one.

But then I think that book is perfection without a hair out of place.

You're probably not far off from how things are going to go down - but I have a feeling it's going to be a little more complex than that. For example, in the missing chapter right after Kaladin sees Amaram for the first time, I suspect we'll see Kaladin freak out at Amaram, and Dalinar need to have Kaladin restrained to stop him from attacking Amaram outright. I think Dalinar's going to spend most of the book waffling about what to do about Amaram, as he is in sore need of allies right now. I have a feeling there's going to be some tie to Sadeas as well, which is what's going to be the final straw, and will finally encourage Dalinar to cut Amaram.... But yes, you're probably basically right. Either way, I think it's going to make for very interesting story..

As for Shallan, I agree with QT - I rather enjoyed her throughout WoK - but I really enjoyed reading about how women go about becoming scholars on Roshar, and I felt her chapters gave us some much needed world building outside the Shattered Plain.

Pattern is interesting. His philosophical questions are great. But the Dalinar chapter with him not able to secure the loyalty of one of the DECENT High Princes was EXCELLENT. Loved that aspect. Nice worldbuilding with having Dalinar essentially fail to exert his will on the dude, threateningly or otherwise.

You got it, Renarin. I think he's definitely going to be important somehow. The thing I'm not sure of is the whole sprens disliking shard plate and swords. There's something wonky there, and now both Renarin and Adolin have both!

Mar. 1 - He had his wrist wrapped, and the bruises on his face were starting to purple. They made him look slightly less intoxicatingly handsome, though there was a rugged "I punched a lot of people today" quality to that, which was fetching in its own right.
Mar. 2 - This would be a sad place to die. A place away from the wind.
