So I just spent the last hour browsing Coppermind (wiki) and figuring out what the chart at the front of the WoK hardback means, among other things. Damn I can't wait to continue this series.

Reading through the first book again, and I maintain that Shallan doesn't become an interesting character until about 3/4 through the book. Essentially when Jasnah kills those footpads.

Disagree.

But then I enjoyed reading about her scholarly pursuits. I found her 100% enthralling from page one.

But then I think that book is perfection without a hair out of place.

As for Shallan, I agree with QT - I rather enjoyed her throughout WoK - but I really enjoyed reading about how women go about becoming scholars on Roshar, and I felt her chapters gave us some much needed world building outside the Shattered Plain.

I'm about halfway through the next set of preview chapters 6, 8, 9 (only paused to read THE EMPEROR'S BLADES), but...

Just finished the latest preview chapters. Great stuff!

Though I'm lost with that Parshendi chapter. What's this business about art forms?

CRAZY ASS PARSHENDI!

While I was reading this, all I could think of was "Wonder Twins Activate! Form of a hawk!"

But seriously, I'm most excited to see this Storm Form they're talking about. That's going to be interesting. Plus, I'm curious to find out what they felt it was necessary to stop Gavilar from doing by killing him.

Indeed, I wonder if we'll get an answer to that in this book or a future one.

I've been hoping that one of the bookstores near my house will stock it early.
