Agree 100%.

Garfield does the smarmy, jokester Spidey MUCH better, and he brings an actual Angsty Teen aspect to Peter Parker.

Anyway, I still haven't watched the first one but I heard great things about it. I have been following the latest discussions on Spiderman 2 and I hear a lot of complaints about the big roster of villains. Electro, Rhino and the Green Goblin. People are making comparisons to the craptacular Spiderman 3 and are worried that 3 villains will dilute the story and make it a mess like the third movie in the original trilogy.

I can see the worry but if it's true that they are working towards a Sinister Six movie then I am all for it. We can see suits for Doc Ock and the Vulture in the trailer so it sounds logical that they will place Oscorp and the Green Goblin in the center of some kind of super powered mercenaries plot.

I don't think you can call spoilers in a trailer for a film where the motivations and character fights were established a number of decades ago to anyone who knows the character. That's like saying "Oh, Luna Lovegood was in the trailer for Harry Potter 5....oh nertz, now I know for sure she's in it!"

There is only ONE thing this series needs to avoid spoiling in the trailers...and it probably won't happen till the third film.

Gwen Stacey's death by Green Goblin.

As long as they don't show that, everything else is just expected.

And regarding your last point. I have a feeling Electro is the big bad....GG (Norman) and/or Hobgoblin (Harry) are shadowy/not-so-shadowy puppet masters who work behind the scenes but are present enough to show how they are the overarcing big bad, and that Rhino is just going to be a smaller villain that Parker has to deal with at some point (like he usually is in the comics). At least that's how I hope Webb is handling it. It certainly doesn't look like 3 full out, front and center villains will be fighting Spidey together (which is a big part of SPIDERMAN 3's mistake).

I think we've had this discussion on spoilers before but in my opinion there is a difference between knowing or anticipating something happening in the story, and actually seeing it. A lot of the entertainment and thrill is about the first time experience. Seeing the big bad for the first time. Hearing that badass monologue. Watching Alderaan blowing up for the first time, etc.

Using the highlights of the film to make a trailer is a bad way to create a good movie experience. he worst culprit of this kind of stuff I can remember was the Simpsons movie where they took all the funny moments the movie had to offer and put them in the trailers. When you actually watched the film it fell flat because besides the funny gags they used to sell you the ticket there wasn't really any other meat on the bones.

I agree trailers should only tease. And normally I'd agree with you.

In this case, this is Spiderman with his Rogues Gallery on display. I don't think it's much of a spoiler.

I read that too but I also read they did it as a hoax. Of course it may have been them just trying to cover the leak.... They know we know, we know they know we know but what do we know when they know we know we know.

Its cool seeing the sinister six, or at least their powers, I caught octopus tentacles and vulture wings, did anyone catch anything more? Still I hope they are setting up a long game with this. Its nice to see that Peter's parents might somehow be in on it.

Nah, she had a bridge saving scene in the first film that everyone thought was her death as well. I;ll be very surprised if they kill her in film 2.

Having not seen the first film but hearing that, I now fully expect Gwen Stacy to be a clone made by Miles Warren. Clone Wars 2016. You heard it here first!

How did you not see the first Amazing Spiderman? It's the best Spiderman movie yet and one of my favorites of that year. There's one hokey moment, but everything else is quite good.

I've just not been going to the cinema a lot the last couple of years and I don't watch a lot of TV.

I've not watched Man of Steel or Thor 2. It's pretty odd. I used to really be in to comic book movies.

I'm in the McLovin camp. Won't rehash what I said in the general movies thread, but I also agree this one looks like a step up. As with comic books themselves, I wouldn't be surprised at all to have hit and miss entries along the way. And seeing that kid from Chronicle, which really was one of the best super hero movies of recent years, is a major potential booster IMO.

According to this article, it seems that Garfield currently only has a contract for 3 movies, but there are definitely 4 being made. I'm actually very interested to see whether what the writer of the article says may be true. It would certainly be interesting to see how they deal with a Spiderman movie that has no Peter Parker in it!
