@Galactic Council

I will be on and off thru the weekend. I will not submit a reaction right away, but likely will do so before the end of the round.

For now continue passing. If it becomes clear that Tapper or anybody else is moving on my position then I would definitely like to have the opportunity to react. Morgoth could likewise override that order and call for a halt until I check in (in case he needs my help)

Well I talked to Vengy. I brought up him filling in but he didn't commit one way or another. We got talking about my upcoming trip and the topic was dropped. Mabye Morgoth can drunk call him and talk to him more convincingly.

Tatts did you talk to Blend? Was he interested in doing it?

How urgent is it, roughly how much time/consistency does it require, and what's happening over Christmas etc?

It's my exams at the moment, but I'll be done by mid next week (also factor in that I'm not going to be able to read the rules etc till then, and probably will be doing stuff post-exams with friends for a couple of days at least, then I'm not sure I'm realistically free until a little before Christmas).

In terms of time, I'm usually good for a lot of time/activity when I'm around (as I'm sure the mafia players are aware), but that can be in erratic bursts, so if you need someone guaranteed to be around daily or on a regular timeframe I'm probably not your best bet, since I often don't get on for a day or two while visiting friends etc (and it's my holidays in January so I'll probably be doing stuff reasonably regularly).

I'm game if none of the above is an issue. I've been been considering playing for a bit anyhow but it looks pretty complicated and I've not had much time (especially due to mafia). A game with handholding (yippee!) might be just the thing.

I am willing to give it a go. My usual mafia stipulations apply.

Don't expect me to post or look or care if it is the weekend.

I will trust you only when I am standing over your cold lazer shredded corpse.

:) Happy to give it a shot. Also I won't have to load any software to look at work. Cause that is why I don't play diplomacy.

Part of this depends upon how much time IH has to fill you in on his strategy and how much your enthusiasm waivers after reading the rules. :p

I am the boss only in so far as I make the maps. So my opinion on this is strictly my opinion. But I'm leaning towards letting the two of you team play it. With off thread comms JUST for you two. No one else is using off thread contact.

What do the rest of you think?

And given the current state of play I'm suggesting a weekend freeze on actions. IH is sorta at a critical juncture imho. So talking it out with Griengy is probably a good idea?

Sounds like Vengy has more time than Grief, but having both of them do it would potentially allow them to cover each other's away times. I'd be okay with that.

I assume we will be planning to slow down around Xmas time? I guess we don't need to actually freeze the game at all, just leave the thread open and going but assume action submissions and mod updates will not be nearly as regular?

If I was to do an action it would be to upgrade starbases with two positron computers and improved hull.

If you want me to talk things through with potential replacements first feel free. I will be very busy over the next weeks so if someone wants to take over and be coached by tatts/gnaw I am happy

That's what I thought about the two of them. If they're willing.

I wasn't planning on slow down over the holidays. I now it will happen and I for one don't plan on pushing anyone. But, yeah, it's going to slow down I'm sure. We'll average one action a day for a couple weeks probably . *shrug*

We've got two replacements. I suggested they team play it to help out with each other's time restraints. D'rek is ok with that.

Coaching by Tatts and Gnaw is of course part of the alliance.

What I was getting at with you having a quick talk with them was your thoughts as the Mechanema and where the toasters are headed. I'm not suggesting you/they leave but it is a part of the game and to be fair to them they should get that particular point of view from you. *shrug*

I'm sure that neither of them need to be told the advantages/disadvantages/morality,etc. but they should be made aware of the up and down sides to doing so in the this particular game.

IMO as mod. Gnaw on the other hand would like to say "goodbye, have a good trip, tell them to listen to me, don't let the doorknob..."

Grieng Round 6 provisionals

Griengy. Venrief, Griefeance.

Griengy or Vengreif I think.

Oh. Yeah. Are you two good with team playing it? That way you wouldn't feel quite so lonely as your subjects are turned into scrap metal, your fleets into debris, and your names into mud.

Grief, on 14 December 2013 - 07:37 PM, said:

Mud? Looks like this could be quite the improvement for your reputation there Venge :)

I'm happy to play it as a team. It's a match made in Erikson after all. Otherwise Venge seems to have more time so is the better choice.

On another important note, I vote Griefance, or pretty much anything that isn't Griengy.

So yeah, works for me, except that I've not a clue how the game works.

So we've got Grief. No word yet from Vengy.

@IH. I really think you should build this turn. Your last cruiser and 2 interceptors.

That gives you ships on the board before him which gives you the opportunity to pin him in the supernova. Then it doesn't matter who wins the fight. If you did this I would bring a couple of interceptors to help with the pinning and you could move cruiser(s) into 310.

If you go all defensive your starbases are stuck there.

CF or Morgoth is going to have neutron absorber next round. That's going to make them much more difficult to pry open.

I guess what I'm saying is we need to either crush Twelve this round or admit he's back in the game and turn 304 into a speedbump. *shrug*

Edit: "we need to either crush Twelve " the 'we' translates to 'you'. I am aware of this. :)
