Heh. Anyone know IH? I'd kick in a few bucks for something truly hideous as a congrats gift. Theisis defense is one of life's major events.

I don't know what it is. Although if I knew him, I'd be in his eclipse games!!

He did his master in Sosiology and Women Studies. I'm not sure exactly what his PHD is about, but I reckon it falls within the same category.

as she provisionally researched Advanced Eco.
as she provisionally researched Advanced Eco.
As I haven't posted my action yet, she can still change that if she wants. This is a nice little scheme Tapper. The question is if we're going to be able to get to Turn 3 or 4 without someone else snapping up Artifact keys just to spite us. As you say, let's hold off till D'rek's around to discuss too.
I was planning to do influences to get Tau Librae, Fomalhaut and Epsilon Carinae this round, then research the artifact key next round, since all those influences, then building ships, then moving them would cost way too much for just one round.
But this is a good plan. Khell, just let me know if you plan to follow it so I don't influence things before you.
Tapper - keep in mind you can influence with a ship to an adjacent hex, so for example my ship in Khell's HW can influence Tau Librae. So that's a few less moves that are necessary.
Aha. Thought the ship had to be in the hex, or controlling an adjacent hex. Are there any takers for Aldebaran? I could use it, especially in combination with the last grey cube in the centre.

You could probably use it more than me, so go for it. Khell doesn't have enough materials for it to be worth him going to the trouble of getting it just to have a hex near the GC.

Ok, I'll follow through with the plan, as I do think it's a good one. Of course, there's probably a million and one things the other alliances can do to fuck it up. Ah well. And I really wanted Sentient Hull too, sigh. If this does work out, I might have the capability to build ships, but they'll still be fodder for the most part. Still, like you say, I do very much need the materials and they aren't coming from elsewhere any time soon.
INFLUENCE 324 and 325. Place materials cube on grey planet coz why not. Flip colony ship back up.
Can I also get a clarification. Does an ally need to move their ship out of an unclaimed hex before another ally can claim it? I didn't think this had to be the case. For example, with the GC in round 2, we all had ships in there, and, had we won, any one us could have claimed the hex straight away.

The rules are that you cannot influence a hex that has enemy ships in it, so allies (and neutrals) are okay.

I'm with Tapper on this. I thought you could only influence adjacent hexes from influenced ones. That a ship could only influence the hex it was in.

Hmm, I'm with D'rek. I seem to remember that ships can also influence adjacent hexes...and I also feel like I actually did that at some point earlier in the game.

D'rek is right. I looked it up yesterday as I had some questions regarding it for somethings I was thinking about.

By selecting the Influence action, you may move up to two
Influence Discs. These moves may be:
• from your Influence Track, or
• from a hex where you have an Influence Disc
• to a hex that does not contain an Influence Disc or an enemy
Ship and is adjacent to a hex where you have a disc
or a Ship, or
• to a hex where only you have a Ship, or
• back to your Influence Track.
The hex Influenced has to have a Wormhole connection to
the hex where you have a disc or a Ship. In the example on
the right, you could Influence hexes A, B and G.
After placing an Influence Disc, you may activate your
Colony Ships to place Population Cubes on the Population
Squares on the hex.
During the Influence action, you may turn two of your used
Colony Ships face up, even if you choose to move no Influence
Discs.
removing a disc from a hex If you remove an Influence
Disc from a hex, you must also return all cubes from the
hex to their respective Population Tracks on your board. If a
cube is returned from a gray (wild) square, you may choose
which Track it goes to. Similarly, if a cube is returned from
an Orbital, you may return it to either the Money or Science
Track.

Heh, speaking of, Eclipse is on sale on Amazon UK - 45% off for the main game, 33% off for the expansion.

So this means that you will buy the game so you can be the next mod? Set this up, process people's moves, take a picture, Post the picture. Easy as pie. That and Tatts will have someone realatively nearby that he can have a game night with. I'm jealous.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Time is the same wherever you are but so different too. How about a 3 hour journey from me to Khell. I don't know the cost but say £100 return. Here it seems magnanimous but there it is a drop in the ocean. Am I right?

Very deep and philosophical Tatts

I did buy it twelve, yes, but not for myself. Christmas present. But perhaps I can work out something at some point down the line.
