Unsure. Since there's no initiative bonus from the tile, you'd also be looking at a more expensive drive to compensate. I'd say the main gain is if you can put down 2+ of them, to survive a plasma cannon hit - so we're looking at cruisers and dreads. Those are hard to build those with your current income.

However, to keep it out of other player's hands: worth it.

Speaking of your income... I see material cubes on 305, 306, 226. Shouldn't you have a much higher material income than just 3?

The issue is that I am never going to win out in initiative against anyone I might fight, the Planta fighters come with a very low default initiative and at this point it would be very difficult for me to make up the difference. I also thought that Twelve could actually do some damage with those Gluons which could help us - but that's if they can actually get round to him without being snapped up by Tatts or Gnaw (I have 't looked at their boards yet).


As for the materials, alas, that is the curse of filling grey planets with money cubes, and then when returning them, putting the cube back on materials instead.

I love this game. I love it! I would literally play as many games as possible all at once. It wouldn't be so good without you helpful mods. Gnaw you are doing a great job and it is much appreciated. D'rek you do fantastic with the Chatclipse and the game you modded. Thanks to Morgoth for bringing this into our lives!

OK.

I think you might want to have a chat with D'rek, see if you and she can develop a cycle of Influence actions that allow you both to buy Artifact Key for 4 planets = 20 resources. In your case, it would build you a navy. In her case, it gets her... whatever she wants, basically - as she lacks very little production.


D'rek has 238 (her homeworld), 232 (Tat's world) and (relatively) easy access to 325 (Tau Libre, next to you), 102 (Formalhaut, my former system).

You have 226 (homeworld), 324 (grey planet next to wormhole), 325 (Tau Libre, next to you), 102 (Formalhaut, my former system).

What needs to be done, is you controlling all 4, then D'rek controlling all 4. I don't think you have enough discs to do it the other way around.

This could be done like:
round 1:
Khell: claim 325 and 324 through influence. Place a cube on 324's grey planet, flip the ship up again. 3 discs.
D'rek: move fighter to 325 (Tau libre) and move something else.

round 2:
Tapper: move my fighter in 102 away to allow colonization on my next action - if one cannot colonize a system with an ally present (there's a rule about post-combat, but not about standard empty tiles, afaik).
Khell: take another influence for 208, 102. 3 discs.
D'rek: colonize 201 & 207 or get a ship to 102, which saves discs, I guess.

Round 3;
Tapper: does something.
Khell: researches Artifact Key.
D'rek: does something

Round 4:
Tapper: does something.
Khell: deinfluence Tau Libre and Formalhaut
D'rek: claim Tau Libre and Formalhaut

Round 5:
Tapper: does stuff.
Khell: does stuff (maybe even deinfluence 208)
D'rek: research Artifact Key.

Also, if you think 15 mats is enough, we can speed it all up by a round as you won't need to move for Formalhaut, saving a tonne of discs.

Or, you could go for Quantum Grid and then completely reshuffling your resources.

The plan still seems sound for Khell. He cannot do anything else this round, but grabbing a key would be terrific for him. 20 materials is nothing to be sniffed at when he has no ships.

As I haven't posted my action yet, she can still change that if she wants. This is a nice little scheme Tapper. The question is if we're going to be able to get to Turn 3 or 4 without someone else snapping up Artifact keys just to spite us. As you say, let's hold off till D'rek's around to discuss too.

IH has 2 science;
Morgoth has 0 science;
CF has 3 science and -4 discount;
I has 0 science;
you have 13 science;
D'rek has potentially 15 science and a -3 discount;
Twelve has 8 science and can convert mats;
Gnaw has 5 science and a -2 discount;
Tatts has 7 science, -2 discount.

That's without checking the map for who has how many artifact systems.
There are 3 keys available for purchase, so even if someone else steals one (Twelve could convert 9 mats to get it), we should be okay.

I may be able to get away with a very early pass this round too. Much of what I would do can easily be done by reaction and nobody has an efficient way of entering our territories just yet. The only major adjustment I need to make is to Spica to retool for more materials. After that I think I'm safe to pass.

Not sure of your plans this round RE passing. I just think it would be beneficial for me to conserve resources and hopefully get a crack at plasma missiles if they come up next turn. I see that as being a major weak point. If an enemy comes at me with missiles, there's not a heck of a lot I can do about it unless I have some of my own.

I was planning to do influences to get Tau Librae, Fomalhaut and Epsilon Carinae this round, then research the artifact key next round, since all those influences, then building ships, then moving them would cost way too much for just one round.

But this is a good plan. Khell, just let me know if you plan to follow it so I don't influence things before you.

Tapper - keep in mind you can influence with a ship to an adjacent hex, so for example my ship in Khell's HW can influence Tau Librae. So that's a few less moves that are necessary.
