So Khell, you were talking alliance before. I didn't reply then from uncertainty and I'm still weighing my options. I guess the magic question is what's in it for me? My position doesn't look to be very strong at the moment and the only way out is through you, and for now you have better ships plus better materials production. The safety of an alliance is all well and good, but in this position I'm not going to contributing much in the VP department now am I, meaning you'll probably be better off betraying me and attacking me around round 6 than having my low VP score at the end of the game drag down the alliance average.
I only see any value in the alliance for me if I think you see value in it, too. So are you willing to help that be the case? Maybe un-influence Delta Eridani next round so I can take it and actually get somewhere?
From round 4, you will have wormhole generators and go wherever the wind takes you. And even with just the alliance, you can safely go through my territories to wherever else. I think if we formed an alliance before round 4, then we could use up/save up our resources more efficiently without having to look over our shoulders at each other. Both of our races have potential to be strong end-game if we manage to avoid conflict - imagine what our two races together could do having made it safely through the first 6 rounds or so of the game.
If it takes Delta Eridani to make you feel better about an alliance, I'll think about it, but I may need something in return.
Wormhole generators in round 4 aren't going to do me much good when I've accumulated a total of 9 science and 10 materials by that point. What am I going to do, send two Cruisers with nothing but improved hulls upgraded at yours or Tatts' homeworld? By round 4 either of you will have the tech and materials to withstand that, and I won't be able to rebuild those ships until round 6. So really my only choice will be instead to build orbitals, but I'd have to put all my science and materials into them and again then I'm not much threat.
Even the +2 science from Delta Eridani would be a big enough help, with that I'd be able to get 1 or 2 other tech *and* orbitals, or get to advanced labs quicker. Hopefully though, I could also exchange ambassadors with Tapper and get another small boost. Enough to actually have a chance at ending the game with a reasonable amount of VP, and maybe even enough to make some raids on Tatts.
Or I can be the scrappy little sister in the corner that can't help at all in points or in battle when shit winds up hitting the fan.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
