Tapper always seems to do a really good job of cutting himself off from the world. Last game that was more understandable because he didn't go to tier 1 at all, but with the way the wormholes are now he can use Aldebaran to shut out Gnaw and Tatts, despite it having 5 wormholes. At least CF getting Fomalhaut means those two are definitely connected at their homeworlds through Fomalhaut.

Does he want to shut out Gnaw though? If gnaw is left to turtle with the start he has had he could easily romp to a victory, at least more connections to Gnaw will keep him honest.

In other news, just had a few people over for a game of eclipse, another victory for me as the planta. Much more close fought this time, but was again left alone for too long, when I was eventually attacked on the last turn my ships were easily overwhelmed, but my high point monolith hexes were too far away for anyone to reach. Mechanema grabbed a strong second place, thanks to using his cheap cruisers early on to grab lots of ancient hexes, and make up for his lack of production. Galaxy was very walled off, with only 2 people forming diplomatic relations the whole game! This led to chaos at the end when everyone grabbed wormhole generators and jumped in behind the choke points.

more connections to Gnaw will keep him honest.

Congrats on the win.

It's looking like that could happen here.

YMMV but I've found Gnaw to be a paragon of honesty.

Is the audit above correct for you?

"Did not go" is the wrong sentence there. I was primed to go there with a fleet and fight the ancient in the tier 1 hex I found.
However, that was also the hex Twelve desired and he had a 2x Dread at the ready.

I have the feeling that 'keeping honest' is going to be a key-word for Planta and Lyra as well.
I also see that both of Gnaw's neighbours can probably still gain access to him.

EXPLORE South-East of 306 Beta Centauri. Once I see that hex I'll decide what my second explore will be.

@CF You mentioned somewhere a text editor that supports bbcode. what was it again?

That wasn't me...I'm not sure which editor would support that, though I'm sure such a thing exists now that you mention it.

So D'rek, Tatts, Khell,

Did you guys ever do that chat version of the game that you were talking about doing a little while back?

The reason I'm asking is that I will be running solo for about 12 days in November. The wife is taking the boys to the east coast for Thanksgiving so I will have the run of the place. If anyone is interested and if D'rek or someone else is willing to mod too I'd be down with doing a ramped up version of eclipse.

Just throwing that out there.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Nope, Chatclipse never happened. I'd still be up for it.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Well, what are people's schedules Nov 16, 17, 22, 23 or 24? It's year end close for me so even though I usually take the full week of Thanksgiving off I can't this year so during the week I'm out but I think that would be the same for all you as well.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

For those of you with provisionals in, please update as you see the situation change. Even if it's a "no change".

FWIW: I'm thinking that I'll have such a message with each of you for each round. Shorter message threads.

I was thinking of running a chataclipse game now I have some free time and my thesis is in. Don't know whether we'd be able to run it all in one session, but I was thinking do a 6 player, with everyone around at the same time for at least the start, and run it like a forum game, but with set times where everyone is around so we can zoom through some rounds. 16th and 17th work for me.

Sundays are probably better for me but I might be able to do some Saturdays - most likely I'd be available in the afternoon on Saturday but not the morning. With the timezones that might not be problematic if we can actually keep the pace up so the game is only ~4 hours. Sundays I should be available all day. 16/17/23/24 should probably work for me.

@GC - you left me off your list.

I have, at the end of Turn 2:
  • -3 Upkeep = 5 discs = 2 actions + 3 hexes
  • Bank == $2, S 4, M 3.
  • Production ==
    • $6 = 3 cubes = 2 planets + 1 ambassador
    • S 3 = 1 cubes = 1 planet
    • M 3 = 1 cubes = 1 discard
    • 2 unused colony ships, 1 used
    • 2 ambassadors free
    • Unbuilt ships == 8 interceptors, 3 cruisers, 2 dreads, 4 starbases
    • Tech == none
    • VP = 13 = 6 from hexes + 1 ambassador + 6 from ancients (Does GCD count)

Ah, sweet, blissful space coffee. When you get a tumultuous week like this one has been, it becomes a basic necessity for survival. The galaxy is heating up, isolated races are expanding and making all sorts of pacts and overtures. The future is so uncertain, and that means more work for me. The double shifts have paid off though. I never would've thought a month ago that this week I'd be reporting complete success on a project to-
-develop a new pico-material with double the blast resistance of-
-establish trade routes to a space-faring plant species-
-use psi-analytics to predict and avoid contact with the hegemonics-
-exploring through mysterious wormholes into a Pulsar system. Sheesh, and that was only the first half of the week. After that success, now I have to go through another one? Why is it always me?

Action: Explore North of Geminga
(m2 / s1 / m3)

Rotate so that the single wormhole is joined to the previous hex, please.
