Are people at the stage where they can leave multiple provisionals yet? I'm doing my upgrade passing and moving the dread to hive as a reaction. Drek tatts tapper and khell all have fairly obvious move sequences to get ships to hive\gc. I presume morgoth is attacking that ancient. Cf I don't know, but I can't imagine anyone else's moves will effect what he does much. I presume gnaw is moving an interceptor into the GC to try and fuck things up. Shall we accelerate things? Once cf and morgoth go it is right back round to you tapper

It's back round to D'rek I think actually.

True morgoth has a provisional in but drek does not, thought it was the other way round.

I'm kinda waiting to see what Tapper does. I don't want him to move that dread into Formahaut on the sly instead of contributing to the GC fight.

@Gnaw,

You put my starbases in the wrong sector. They should be in Formahaut , north of my homeworld.
@Morgoth,

What do you think about me passing here. I'd like to get turn order headed our way so we have a better chance at the good tech. I could build the orbital I had planned to build this round as a reaction just as easily.

the alternative is to build and not sacrifice my ability to do upgrades on the space stations in case Tapper gets all antsy and starts invading Formahaut.

EDIT

I see on re-inspection of the dialogue that Tapper's material is needed for the GC effort now. Maybe we have nothing to worry about...yet.

Have you given any thought to early wormhole generator development?

I agree that a pass sounds like a good plan. An early Choice of research might be very benefitial.

I'm not sure the portal will ever really be needed. It might be easier, considering my very low production, to acquire wormhole generators later. A lot hinges on how the other two alliances chose to expand I think.

Cool, well as long as Tapper continues with his likely plans to assist in the GC,

Provisionally pass.

NOTE THAT I WISH TO TAKE A REACTION NEXT TIME AROUND THE BOARD. This does not constitute passing until the end of round 3.

Good thinking Khell. I don't think we'll really need the extra interceptor but it sure doesn't hurt to have - means better odds and more surviving interceptors for defence after.

Turn 4 - PulsarUPGrade - Replace the Improved Hull on my Interceptors with an Ion Cannon
Turn 5 - Move 2x Interceptors from Aldebaraan to the Galactic Centre

D'rek you will only have 4 materials next round yes? So I should not be worried about you jumping into my territory just yet.

The Planta ship Pastures New, outfitted with Magellan engines to actually make it travel faster than the normal glacial pace of Planta ships, slid into the space of the Galactic Centre.

Tiny, vulnerable, the crew gazed at the enormous hulk of the ancient defender. Or, at least, they would have done, had they not one and all (being one and all) been overcome with motion sickness.

SUBSPACE TRANSMISSION <<RELAY VIA >> PROCYON HIGH-GAIN TRANSMITTER>>PSI CAPRICORNI COLONY>>ALPHA CENTAURI SUBSPACE TRANSCIEVER>>HYDRA PRIME

Destination - Hydra Prime, Hydran High Command
Origin - Old Earth, Office of SD C Fiestum
Subject - Unrest in Formahaut
Classification - Diplomatic Cable, Encrypted
Language - English
Stardate - 2013-11-08:10:31

You have no-doubt heard by now the rumors of unrest in Formahaut. I assure you they are true. A rebel group sized control of a Directorate ship production facility on Formahaut Gamma yesterday, they launched two of our newly-constructed space stations, then turned the stations' weapons against Directorate forces before capturing the colony base. We have since learned that this is not a splinter group, but the beginnings of an armed coup against my administration. These rebels do not wish to secede from the Directorate, rather, *lead* it.

The group has threatened violence against any and all entering the sector, including Directorate forces and our Hydran Allies. We understand your forces are committed to dispatching the ancient threat in the south, but things could escalate quickly in Formahaut, and we may require assistance - especially if Magellan or Draco forces make some move to capture the sector. A show of strength from our alliance could force the rebels to cede control of their holdings.

SUMMARY UP TO DATE

@Morgoth,

No summary, just flavour text cause I'm bored. Basically saying we need to watch out for the alliance to the north and you should be prepared to send some ships my way in the near future to defend our choke point.

If it becomes available, you might do well with orbitals too. Being buried way behind the front lines, it would be an excellent way to get your science pumping and fill out those research racks. A trade (or straight-up donation) of Formahaut to the Hydrans might work in our favour too. I want to try and get Advanced labs if it's an option in the near future, but if I don't then Formahaut is better in your hands than mine.

EDIT

Another advantage to switching control of Formahaut would be multiplying the number of starbases, much the same way Khell/Tapper/D'rek plan to handle things in the GC.

IH/Gnaw, if an advanced economy comes out should I grab that over advanced Labs?

I can colonize 5 money planets/slots if I did that. I could do an influence action and remove both discs from the grey planets put them on money. That would put me on 10 money production. I put the disc onto hex 317. Colonize those two money slots. Flip two ships. Influence supernova with 2 science. Or 1 science and 1 materials. Increasing their production. I would have 3 money slots to colonise then but only one ship.

At this stage my production would be 15, 10, 8.

I could then influence to get 3 ships and colonise the last 3 money slots, to put my money income at 24 or just use the colony ship to increase money to +18. So at the end of next round I would have a production of 18, 10, 8.

If one advanced economy comes out, grabbing it and denying twelve it could be a sound strategy, but are you going to be able to hang on to the supernova? That said if you grab advanced economy, because you have access to so many money slots you could eat the loss in money and still maintain a decent production.

I was thinking that we'd be trying to get you into twelves homeworld next turn, but advanced economy could be a better long term strategy.

With that much money I will be able to do actions. So we could double team twelve and I will watch to see if D'rek comes knocking, but she will only have 4 materials.

Anyone feel like collating things? We're still waiting on Tapper to do turn 3, and then turn 4 and presumably 5 straight after.

I have my provisional pass and provisional reactions in to Gnaw via PM, so no holdup there.

I'm trying to. Tatts' turns 4 and 5 are a bit confusing.

I have double drives on my dread. I move my dread into the hex where IH is, the one with the hive. It takes two moves and they are both reactions.

Gnaw on that quick map update I noticed that one of my advanced material planets weren't colonized. I have access currently to three and pre-upkeep round three my production is 15 materials but drops to 12 as I'm forced to bankrupt a hex in bankruptcy.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
