Turn 4 provisional
Upgrade: put plasma missiles on the blank spot and over the ion cannon of the interceptor
-17 upkeep $2, Sc 1. M 7
However, IH or Tatts can interrupt this provisional if either wants (ie: if either says so, do not execute it when my turn comes and wait for me instead).

I was going to say something similar. I was going to say upgrade your cruiser with plasma cannons over hull and cannon, and computer over blank spot. That would give you 4 shots at +2 damage 2. Interceptors would fire 8 shots with no + 2 so you'd require a few 6's to hit.
8 * 1/6th 1.3 will hit
4 * 1/3rd 1.3 will hit
That is all you need though. It will severly disrupt their charge for the center and waste a round for them

D'rek (and Tapper), I've been doing some calculatorising:
Do you think it's worth me building another interceptor and moving that to the GC instead, just to improve our odds a bit more? If I build now, move on the next turn, move again, and then upgrade. I can do that because either A) We win the GC and I can populate the grey slots with money and so able to afford the extra move, or B ) even if we don't win, I can de-influence one of my hexes in order to stave off bankruptcy.
I think it might be worth it having the security of one extra interceptor.

I paid full price for those damn things, I'd better get some use out of them.

Yes, this can work, because D'rek hasn't upgraded yet. So I can still get my interceptors in first while she spends a turn upgrading instead of moving. Hmm, not sure about Tapper though.

And Tapper hasn't built his interceptors yet, so I will still get at least one of my interceptors into the GC before him...
Ok, Turn 3:
BUILD 1 Interceptor in homeworld.

I hear it's fashionable to keep some patches entirely bare these days.

The Planta, naturally, are opposed to such fashions. The Planta believe in verdant growth.
....
The Planta are curious if the bipeds are making fun of them somehow.

"Admiral Kzaargh, word has reached me that the Planta have decided they do not have sufficient ships to move on the GC at this time.. Your plan with the plasma missile technology looks to be paying off. Do you wish me to send the intelligence report to the Grand Admiral?"
"No. The Grand Admiral would think I was running to you for support. Besides, saying "I told you so" prematurely could put me in deeper water. Let's wait and see if they do decide not to attack this turn. before we start celebrating."
