I don't think edge walker is a guardian of shadow
I think he's chained there like all the other people that tried
To become king of shadow he's just got the longest leash, I'm pretty sure that it's said somewhere that he's one of the first kings of shadow or one of the first to get the throne

Only time will tell though

Don't know if he's one of the first, but he definitely sat on the throne for a while. Or at least so he claims to Kiska in 'Night of Knives'. He concludes with "Now I walk its boundaries forever. And I fared better than most." So it is indeed likely that he is sort of a prisoner in the realm. That doesn't exclude him being a guardian of it as well, though. You would want to keep your prison nice and tidy, I imagine.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Maybe he just likes the solitude of being in shadow. Not trapped there but a self imposed guardianship and the realm he feels most at home in.

I just re-read rint's death scene and it all fell into place - even the gammy leg which is pretty explicit :(

Are draconus and edgewalker mentioned at all together? Other than in terms of a larger group?

Deep down id like it to be Gripp for some reason.

I just re read Midnight Tidesand Im convinced that Edgewalker is Grizzn Farl. He said that he was protecting somethimg within MD's world in FoD and the way in which Edgewaller speaks is very similar to Grizzn's manner of speaking. Poetic, veiled, always alluding to, but never getting to the point.

No, Edgewalker gets mentioned several times separately from Grizzin Farl in the series, by people who know both of them so who should be able to tell if they were one and the same person.

Alas, you are correct there, Gorefest. (Excellwnt username btw) It was wishful thinking. Old 'Edge may just be himself. Rather boring, that. Well, what do we know of him?

-He is stupendoisly old-he is an elemental force.
-He is feared by all; old gods, new gods, all manner of other nasty characters.
-He can access seemingly every aspect of Shadow.
-He appears to be undead/Imass-like in appearance.
-He tried to take the throne of shadow?(unsure of this one)
-he used to swim in the vitr with his old pal 'the old man' lol,
jK
-He helps people or not and his motives are never clear
-He seems to be the the bouncer/security for shadow, lol.

Have we ever seen him do anything other than tell people to get lost? Maybe the clue lies in his name-Walker of Edges? Protector of boundaries is what lead me to the to think of Grizzn but that ship sunk.....if he is an elemental force, what elemental force is he? What is his aapect?

He actually sat on the throne of shadow for a while, or at least so he claims.

He could be one of the Azathenai. Or he could be Arathan. Or he could be Rint, as Rint was a Bordersword.

I can't really see a connection between Rint or Arathan and Edgewalker.

I would go with Yedan Narad. He is with the deniers/Tiste Edur and his new name/title is Yedan = The Watch.

Whoever Edgewalker originally was, he was probably a Tiste who got a powerup from an Azathanai like Mother Dark and Father Light but with the aspect of shadow.

That's what makes him such a good therapist.

Do we get less positive rep to dish out than we used to? It seems like I run out really fast now. I tried to positive rep your post but I couldn't. :D

I put forward one could say almost with certainty that Edgewalker is a Elder god or Azathanai. In chats with Dance implies quite heavily in a conversation on dragons, elder gods, etc, that he can be considered an elemental force. Which is what he was referring the Elder gods were. My confusion now is whether Elder Gods are all Azathanai. Draconus, Nightchill, K'rul, Caladan, Kilmandaros(sp), are both. Please, correct anything I add =)

I don't think that Caladan can be called an Elder God. He was, as we currently know, never worshipped like the others. On the other hand Mother Dark was also called an Elder God and has the powers. So, most of the Elder Gods are Azathanai, (probably even Togg and Fandy), but not all Azathanai are Elder Gods. Envy and Spite are also never called gods.
And Edgewalker could as well be a Tiste who got a upgrade from an Azathanai like MD and FL. Afterwards he could also be considered an Elemental Force.
