I had preordered this book of course and the release date was in November 2013. Now look what I just received from Amazon UK!

"Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date: Esslemont, Ian Cameron "Assail" Estimated arrival date: April 04 2014 - April 09 2014"

Almost a year to wait; wonder why they did that?

"Yes, the owl was deliberate in each and every instance, and yes, it was intended to work on multiple levels." (from SE's Dec 09 Q&A)

Crap.

Amazon.ca is still showing a Dec 24 2013 release date, but historically we know this is unlikely to remain the case.

Man, when FoL got pushed back to June, it was like, "Well that sucks, but at least we'll have Assail out this fall to tide us over."
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Yeh if ICE has another sloppily edited book the ICE naysayers will go ballistic.

So this is next april how are we looking for a FOL release date? Are we simply waiting another 9 months for any malaz

That is a good thing - if it's true.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

FoL is June now.

As posted on the Hotlist, I got in touch with Simon Taylor, ICE's editor, and as things stand Amazon is right. . .

Word from Pat is that ASSAIL's release date of 3 July remains pretty firm at this stage. Hopefully that means we'll see the cover and maybe some excerpts soon.

Apparently it's delayed again, a little bit. Amazon UK gives July 17 now.

WTF are they doing? It's literally impossible to mess with a book release ONE MONTH before it's out.

This is a terrible work by the publisher. Plus the total lack of official information is ridiculous.

It's starting to smack of people not knowing what's going on, which is worrying this close to the date. Argh. Although as it's 14th August it means I can come back from my festival break and go "Sorry work, I am Assail-ing until further notice" Posted Image

I found it strange that amazon had an ebook release date and kobo didn't. I'm betting the copy edit wasn't done on time.

Maybe Amazon is throwing yet another tantrum at a publisher -- or all publishers -- to show them who's boss.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
