Of the exclusives for the xbone I think Dead Rising 3 and Ryse look really good.
I tried getting into Dead Rising 2 but I absolutely hated that game after a couple of hours. Three looks like they have "Westernized" it a lot more and streamlined a lot of the bullshit out of the game mechanics. There's something really impressive about seeing the streets being absolutely packed with zombies.
Ryse is just generally super appealing to me. I love Ancient history and while it of course takes its liberties the attention to detail is really appealing. I love the design of the characters, I love the Roman setting and I think the combat looks super satisfying. The problem of course will be how fast the game becomes boring because apparently there is nothing but one battle after another in this game.

I'm not into zombie games but DR3 is probably the strongest 'general' launch title on the xbox-1. Forza as a racing sim is pretty niche, especially for the xbox audience, and I was totally hyped about Ryse until I saw the reviews. It is a very very pretty, very very well done game except for the executions of every enemy you fight are super easy to do and get super boring as you play through it. Also, campaign is apparently ~6 hours. I guess the co-op is fun but nothing special, but eh. I guess if I get a xbox 1 this year I'll be getting AC4 as the main game on it.

I can't get into car games any longer. I had a 10 year gap between the 90s and the 10s where I didn't play racing games and subsequently I lost all skill. I could probably regain those skills but I just can't envision playing a hundred hours of GT or Forza before it starts to become fun again.

The only car game worth playing is Rock and Roll Racing

Micro Machines on NES. RC Pro AM. Off Road. Those games were awesome
And the only way I'll update to the new consoles is if the next generations of the games I love (Borderlands, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, etc.) become available only on them. Otherwise, I'll stick with the 360 for as long as possible.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I'll probably get the Xbox One when Titanfall comes out.
None of the launch titles compel me to buy one just yet. Same for the PS4.

First two things I see about the Xbone on my facebook feed were a link to a site where they opened up one and found it full of off-the-shelf parts, rubbishing the lack of a replaceable hard drive, and a picture of one in a toilet from a funny pic page admin signifying his disgust at it turning up with a broken controller.
Also that dude writing the article is a fucking idiot, seriously. His entire point is 'in my opinion you're too old for video games' and he's writing clickbait for a site called 'brobible.com, good job dude.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Forza horizon(?) had a free quick game / demo type thing set in the fast and furious world that was a lot of fun. May be worth trying Forza 6. Haven't myself but keep thinking I will when the older one goes on sale.

Not that I really feel I can afford it, but I think the X1s library has still yet to reach the critical mass where I want to buy the console. Most of the stuff I wanted to play early they've ported to PC. It's still not quite worth it for the exclusives, although Halo 5 is looking mighty fine.

The controller is great. I started with two paddles instead of four, which was still a bit hard to get used to, but remapping abilities to them has definitely kept me alive longer in halo. There are some other cool customization options too, in terms of sensitivity, vibration, trigger locks, etc. I think it's worth the money.

I'm waiting for it to release here (pre-order due next Friday), super keen to try it out. Not having to take your fingers off the sticks to jump, but without resorting to Bumper Jumper? Fantastic.

Yeah, it is. My Halo setup has one paddle for jumping, the other for thrusters currently. I think you're going to like it.

Ok, haven't been following the new console, but what you're talking about is a "solid state hybrid drive" meaning that part of the drive is an SSD and the rest is a standard HDD.
The benefits are that things on the SSD (notably the main OS) have faster access times. This means, in theory, the console will turn on faster.
... And that's about it. Depending on what the ratio is and how much control you have, it might be possible for you to put a favourite game in the SSD portion as well, and have it load quicker, but I doubt that very much. There's also no guaranteed improvement in start-up speed as poor coding is poor coding. I would imagine that they've got it faster though. Not that I mind the current speed *that* much.
So if it's noticeably more expensive I wouldn't worry about the console. As long as you get more than 500gb storage I think you'll be fine.

Ok I got $600 saved up for X1X. I’m a little miffed though. This was supposed to be the big mumbo jumbo 6TB console and yet the spec says its 1TB now. Wtf?
Where did you get that idea? XD
This was always only a 1TB console (for some utterly inconceivable reason) despite being targeted at the increasingly large 4k games of the future.

I'd bet the mixup is that the 1X has 6 teraflops of computing power, which they heavily advertised.
The external hard drives work well, but add cost to the overall price of the system.

We ve talked about the 6 TB for years now. That’s why I have waited this long. I would have bought one a long time ago but was waiting for Scorpio behemoth.
Fuck I just bought a 2 TB for my PS4.

Oh, it's totally more in line with what the console *should* have (and at a premium of like $50 tbh for manufacturers bulk considering how cheap hdds are these days).
