You aren't using an influence action so to claim it you have to take a disk from your track (costing you more money) and putting it on the hex. So you cannot swap disks. If after you claim the new system and are forced to pay for your upkeep by going bankrupt, then you can remove a disk from a pulsar. In this senario in a round about way you are swapping but if you can afford your upkeep without going bankrupt then you can't remove the disk on the pulsar. Does that make sense?
As for the money situation on that hex there is one standard money planet and one advanced money planet.

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Ok then. If I trade all resources that gives me 4$.
Flipping 1 colony gives me another 1$
With the 4 I've got I can make -21 upkeep and still colonise 2 planets. Providing I swap the pulsar disc at upkeep stage.
so yes. I'll influence.

I'll put an influence disc on Beta Centauri and colonize it with one cube from each population track.

You already said I ruined your fun so I'll volunteer to be the one to tell you.
You can't do any of that up there except the influence.
The short answer is because you already used all your colony ships when you did this:

Yeah I meant Altair (that the one with the interceptor in eh?), I want all 3 ships in Altair. Exactly for that reason. I NEED it having come this far.
So,
Turn 9.
Flip all colony ships for 3 money.
Trade 6 materials for 2 money.
MOVES remaining wayward dreadnought into Altair.

The longer, more complete answer can be found here and here.

Right fair enough. When you's said I don't need to trade or flip anything until upkeep, then I was meant to edit turn 9 to remove those bits.
I'll just influence then.
I'll just influence then.

Colonize materials in Iota Bootis instead of science in Delta Eridani.
Meant to do that from the get-go but got confused moving stuff around earlier.
EDIT
AAAH!
Nevermind all that. It didn't make sense and I wasn't factoring in my pillage bonus. Was trying to offload the wormhole hex in favour of Iota Bootis, but I see now that with the pillage bonus I can't actually bankrupt myself by colonizing Iota bootis, which would leave me with WAY more systems than I want.
Ok fully revised post-combat.
Influence epsilon eridani, colonize both econ and science. Full stop.

Just a quick glance, influencing your new system puts you at -25 income, not -21. Also, your colony ships are all flipped, so you can't count them as end-of-round money income. Did you just move all that money maneuvering and exchanging to the end of your turn?
Cos even the numbers for the "starting amounts" don't look right, per the pre-combat board (which is still up).

If I bankrupt the pulsar then don't I come back down to -21?
So what I done turn 9, was in anticipation of my upkeep. It's not like I done it then spent it, and added to my upkeep as well.
I've kept to the same structure of tallying everything up at the end of the round instead if each turn.

Bascially I raised $5 from flipping and trade. I already had $4.
With my income of 12, that's 21.
So if I've done the bankruptcy thing right, my upkeep should be -21?
I was on -21 when I passed, so am I missing something? Do I need to place a disc on the influence action space as well as the system itself? I thought that was unnecessary when conquering or exploring?

Tatts check your upkeep again... I don't think you've accounted for the influence discs returned to you because d'rek and ss took two systems, but you have only colonised one (unless you colonised the hex you took off twelve too, but I don't see anything to that effect in your post).
Also that artifact key is going to be expensive 3 colony ships, all your science AND selling 3 materials. Ouch.

Yeah I knew as much but it's going to be spent all on materials.
Oh yes, I was going off current map, I know income is correct it is my upkeep which is the problem! Should it be -17?
