Sorry guys, was waiting for more input. I'm still mulling it over myself. I'll make a decision in the next hour.

Or so.

CF, the file is uploading. It'll take it another hour or so. I'm on adsl because my telco has no competitors so they can get away with highway robbery for dsl.

so I can pull it from your ftp and continue modding then?

I'm cool with that. Just let me know when it's up there and ready to go.

Yep. It finished up sometime early this morning.

I did a couple of things that should make it easier to work with mostly by locking the things such as hexes that don't need to move.

You had 3 layers. Background, Player Boards, and everything else.

There are now 5 layers. Background, Player Boards, Tech, Hexes, everything else. (shift+ctrl+L will bring up the layer toolbar)

  • The Tech layer is for technology tiles because they only need to be moved twice. Off board to currently available and currently available to player board. This layer is currently unlocked.
  • Hexes are just that with three additions. Orbitals, SS's warp portal, and monoliths. Once they're on the board, they never need to be moved again. Layer is locked.

The reasoning behind this is that with those layers locked you can't move grab a hex when all you wanted to do was move a cruiser. It also allows you to select all the items on a hex and move them as a group - Vernon removes an influence disc from two of his hexes to avoid bankruptcy. Instead of clicking each item in the hex, moving it, clicking the next, etc, you can select them all at one time.

I don't know if you want to keep doing the lowres images or not. It's not very time consuming. Export the png to jpg at 50% as you've been doing. Image->scale -> drop H from 9000 to 4500. Export the jpg at 50%. Crop the player boards out. Export. Undo the crop. Crop the map out. Export the jpg at 40%. Exit, don't save.

Edit: sorry if I'm telling you things you already know how to do. But better to do that than assume you know when you don't. Khell tells me that my assumption making abilities are suspect as is. Posted Image

I found the low res images extremely helpful when working from my Ipad/phone, and I think the same is true for a few other players.

Yeah. They're good for me too.

So, Khell. I'm in. Where you want me?

Aldebaran, Zeta Herculis, Arcturus, and Epsilon Eridani. I think those have to be the main targets as they're his money hexes. His science and materials hoard is such that I think the best way to hurt him is to limit the number of moves he can make.

D'rek can reach Aldebaran.

Tapper can reach Zeta Herculis.

CF and I can both reach Arcturus and Epsilon Eridani.

Now, I don't dream that all of these will be taken, but the hope is that twelve can't fend off absolutely every attack.

The homeworld will be hardest to do anything meaningful in. What if I move to Capella and Arcturus, while CF moves to Epsilon Eridani? That will mean that if twelve wants to use his dreads to defend his homeworld, he will have to build in Capella first so that they wouldn't be pinned (not to mention that he would have to spend another turn upgrading the dreads with better drives).

So:

Move two interceptors to Capella.

Excellent!

Attacking Tatts through the warp portal. We need to make sure that while we concentrate on twelve that at the same time doesn't leave the door open for Tatts to sweep up everything next round.

Moving against Tatts will also help assuage Tapper's fears about your fleet, and he would (hopefully) be more likely to move against twelve's Zeta Herculis.

CF needs to move his interceptor out of the way.

Check the wormholes there bub. Capella can't be reached from your neck of the woods. Wormhole generator isn't likely to help you either as there is no half wormholes either.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I stared at the map for ages and yet somehow was still blind to that. Clearly I am no general yet

@ Tapper: how do you feel about going for Capella and Zeta Herculis? Throw something rubbish into Capella, and you'll have more chance of taking Zeta Herculis, as twelve is more likely to focus on one over the other.

I will then:

Move two interceptors to Arcturus, for now.

Nope, but it is Tapper crazy-mafia-game time! SS, you're a guy who feels like he doesn't spend enough time on this forum, aren't you? A guy who feels like he wants to post more, become more obsessed with things, and ultimately be driven almost entirely insane by mechanics which make no sense to you and you have no hope of ever understanding. Aren't you? Well, you know what you would love - Mafia 105! Just go to the sign-up thread and say 'in'. You will never look back

CF, IH, Morgoth, this goes double for you! You guys have been around too long without getting sucked into mafia - I find that very unnerving. Especially you Morghy, as you seem to have somehow escaped from mafia's clutches.

I don't have time to spend days obsessing about games anymore. And, strangely, when I'm not spending all my time analyzing I play poorly. Better to let people remember me as a good player, rather than a bumbling idiot.

I'm hard pushed enough to start with playing this game.
If I did have all the hours your suggesting, to play games, I'd be playing skyrim!
