I hope you're happy with how I set you up. I did my best and am pretty certain you're better off with the orbital than a cruiser (marginally better odds). I haven't run the scenario for d'rek only having 2 ships, but you're right. Much more survivable now. From what I could tell you're better off with hulls all around instead of shields. With your remaining moves I had planned on the following 2 upgrade actions:

a) dropping shield and bottom left computer from the dread, adding improved hull (over hull) to the orbital and improved hull to the bottom left of the dread.
b ) dropping extra cannon and shield from cruiser, adding back in 2x improved hulls over the existing hull and the blank spot.

Other combos were nearly as good, but the best definitely seems to be when you keep computers on all 3 ships. That's assuming she swaps shields for hulls, as that's the best advantage for her all around.

Of course do whatever you want with your remaining actions this turn. Just letting you know there was a method to the madness so you don't think I sent you up the creek sans paddle.

EDIT

Thinking about it now, you might realize better advantage putting hulls instead of computers if she decides to keep her shields. If she keeps the shields you're stuck rolling 6s for hits anyway, so the computers aren't as much of an advantage as they might otherwise be. Not sure if you can make the necessary upgrades for that.

Hey CF, I am pleased with your choice. The extra upgrade action will come in valuable I reckon. Though you seem to be forgetting a probable development in the design of D'rek's ships as far as I can tell. Though perhaps I am missing something.

Anyways,

Upgrade - Add improved hull over hull on cruiser and Improved hull over computer on Orbital.

replace the Gauss Shield on my Cruiser blueprint with an Improved Hull
