Well, wh generator would allow me to just piss all over Khell. But I don't want to do that either.

I think CF is in the business of doing that at the moment. I suggest you pick a person to dominate and do it before it bites you in the ass. You will not be okay in that corner, people will probably go through me. I am not confident in my abilities to be in a good position in three or four rounds, I am just taking this round to round.

I may join D'rek in finishing off Morgoth and then open a door for her to go after twelve, ie remove disc, then go for the ancients. What do you think D'rek? Would you like a Twelve picnic or are you happy munching on Morgoth?

@SS, you get Ion Turret ship component

It's a double ion cannon (1 damage for each cannon) that only takes up 1 slot and only uses 1 energy. Keep it, keep the VPs or apply to a ship immediately.

@Twelve you get flux shield

A -3 shield component that only uses 2 energy.

=============================================
OK, that should be all I need to post techs then.

Everyone get in your upkeep and Twelve if you haven't said so already, put in your colonization orders. Busy thread and I can't find where you might have posted that information

Gnaw, there is no way that any of the 'larger powers' in this game are just going to let you sit it out and accrue VPs. They are going to come aftter you in the later rounds, and dismantle you until your empire is nothing but a shattered dream of what could have been. It is far better to take the fight to them before that happens. Honestly, I speak from personal experience. You've got the advantage now, don't lose it because you're wary of making the first move.

You let them make the first move on you (and they will if you let them, that's a certainty), and there won't be a second move for you.

I've posted on thread but I've also updated the OP so just look on the front page. As for what to do with this ship part..... That would make my Dreads that much harder to hit but I think I'll just take then as VPs instead.

Confirm take VP

What a fucking absolute joke. What the fuck did I get - 'here, have the shittest science tech available'. I might as well have packed it in after the first round. Complete joke.

@Twelve - good plan. Flux shield is tough to use unless you have awesome energy production on your ships. I see your colonization orders now. Updating....

I think the main thing you're overlooking GP, is over stretch. Until upgraded drives become the norm, a reasonably compact empire will be the norm, and those exceeding it will be swiftly punished because their units can never defend their borders. Instead, cherry-picking your planets is more important.
I decided against attacking CF because I simply couldn't afford the long term implications of a war with him. Had I had better drives (or Neutron Bombs), I'd have been through that wormhole wreaking havoc, but as it stands, there was no way I could de-populate him fast enough to make it a very unequal war (with me as the favorite).
I think there's no real way D'rek can let Morgoth of the hook. She withdraws her unit, Morghy takes his planet back. So any attacking of Twelve will happen with new units.

Besides, I don't really think anyone's yet capable of building an anti-missile dread (lots of improved hull + some shields).
In a missile/missile fight, Twelve holds a distinct advantage at the order is initiative related.
In other words, I am a fool for not getting those damned flux missiles last turn.

I dunno, if conifold field or point defence pops up twelve could be in trouble.

I think my initiative is pretty good and can afford to get plasma missiles next round. That is not my plan but it is an option, three plasma miisiles with another positron computer puts me at +6 initiative, i'd only have to hit him once per dread.

What are you talking about? I got an ancient orbital on an empty hex, worthless, I also got the free tech tile too but was able to grab Starbases from it so am not complaining and I now got the most worthless ship part available. The first two games that someone drew it the part never made it onto a ship. I probably could have put it on my Starbases or Dreads but the energy drain is too much for me to afford for the forseeable future. So again now worth anything other than two free points.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I was sweating some serious bullets when Morgoth passes so early in round 2. I was praying that the missles would still be around when it got back to me. I did have a back up plan that would have allowed me to take on the ancients but I knew for long term the inititive boost the missles gave would have definately been prefferable.

also @ Gnaw,

And rememeber you're going for victory points, not conquest. My clear path to VPs is combat and capture of systems worth more than my 0VP starting system, not having enough material for the alternatives (monoliths). Khell was the weakest opponent in reach, so i went that way.

For you, combat and system capture outright might not be the answer. Twelve is looking pretty awesome in terms of VPs right now, and if system capture can't get you enough VPs then knocking down the leader is the best plan B you've got.

That's how last game turned out. Me and Twelve were strong millitarily and economically, but lacked the VPs of Khell's shrines. Only option in round 9 was to make a massive play not for capture of systems, but to remove as many VPs as possible from him.

At the same time IH and D'rek were trying to do the same to us so we couldn't pull ahead of Khell despite our efforts, and almost surpassed us as a result.

So in planning what to do with that stockpile, turtling and monolith building is a great option. If you want a more "interesting" late game for yourself then a big military and murder some shit with it.

TBH I am probably the weakest sucker in your reach, where I'm already in combat with Khell.

Tapper can put up an excellent defense in a hurry if pressed, and GP's +4 computer 5-init dreads are mega scary. Much moreso if he gets decent weapon tech next round. So the argument could be made for a preemptive strike on GP to stave off a massive murderfest later on, or trying to mow me down at the possible expense of getting too far from home with GP and Tapper poised to strike.

@Khell

Are you quitting?
