I'll take the tech as it nets me starbases. I was worried that I might be able to grad it early wnough

Keep the 4 points, please.
That Ion Missile is going to give me sleepless nights. It is nearly good enough to slap on the fighter and turn it into a one trick pony, but I don't fancy having a single burst weapon only, not even if it discharges as much firepower as it would normally do in 3 rounds. If combat gets more lethal, doing 1 damage only is going to suck a bit.

Stick it on the cruiser, please - on the space that's currently occupied by the +1 Electron Computer.

Grah, gotta start reading posts more carefully. Yes Twelve...your choice was starbase. I placed it on your board. Tapper, I have placed the ion missile as requested.

Last game I had my cruiser as a 1 trick pony. Had 2 flux missile components, + 4 computer. Initiative through the roof and almost guaranteed hits. They may only do 1 damage, but most small ships only take 3 hits to destroy. Especially since your nearest neighbours (including me) don't have much in the way of hull tech.

People better start arming up. We have some serious ship tech ramping up now.

Yes, conformal drive is silly to get. It's probably best to outfit my interceptors with that tech, yes? Given my relatively low ship count, it is probably smartest to put it on the hulls that I can produce the most of.

It was a boon having it on my interceptors last game anyway. They weren't real crazy strong or anything, but they were irritating for everybody else. Just trying to decide now whether to outfit them immediately or spend an upgrade later on. Thoughts IH?


He doesn't have starbases, so he can pick starbases, not advanced robotics (and yes if he got advanced robotics that would be ridiculous)

Re conformal drive upgrade now or later... it really doesn't make much of a difference you have to put it over plasma cannons, and then you would have to upgrade anyway to put a new weapon on your ship. The only advantage to upgrading now is that one ship type would be able to move 5 spaces until you upgraded to add a weapon.

Interceptors or cruisers is a tough call, depends what your strategy is going to be, 4 suitably upgraded interceptors moving 4 hexes in one move is very powerful, but 4 cruisers moving 4 spaces is also very powerful. Your weakness is you won't have as much initiative as you would with a +3 drive, but less power, and your initial initiative boost should offset that.

Hmm...well, putting it on something now does save me an upgrade later. I gotta decide what I want to do first. That double ancient near the GC is mighty tempting now....knowing I can beat them without making any ship upgrades at all. Without the conf drive though, it will cost me 3 moves to get everybody up there. Probably best to put it on something now and save the upgrade

Well you'd have two moves to reach them, but youd need a power upgrade before battle, otherwise you can't use plasma cannons on your interceptors.

Yeah, all those extra techs are going to lead to wildly varying tactics.
For me, the decision to stick 'm on the cruiser is mostly because there's so little other upgrade room on a fighter, and it is likely to have initiative quite often, anyway - that lessens the need for missiles, imho. If I stuck 'm on a Dread, then there'd be only 2 ships that have it - the cruiser is a nice go-between. And still affordable.

Hold off on putting money on the diplomatic tile with Tapper. I'm crunching some more numbers and I might change my mind.

Nevermind keep it the way I have it. It's mighty tempting to go a different route but I'll stick with my current plan. I'll go and do my upkeep now.

Change my mind as in the cube I want but I have since confirmed my initial request. I want/need the extra resources it's just a matter of which way I was thinking of going.

Well, given that my 3 ships have a good chance of blowing anything entering that hex with me to smithereens BEFORE I bother blowing the ancients to smithereens, you all might want to think twice about how badly you want the hex.
