Awesome, I don't think that could have been a better draw for the technologically-minded Hydrani. So if I have this right, unless I get 1 or 0 from my two dice in the cleanup phase, it will not explode. I think I'll take my chances :p

I need to get to a computer before I can decide orientation etc.

Couple of questions:

1. For the grey planet with two spots for cubes on my supernova hex, can I put down two different types of population cubes, or do they have to be the same?

2. CF, is it possible for you to make up a simple map like the one D'rek did in the previous game, with the names of the various star systems?

Hmph. Looks like whether I explore tier 1 or tier 2, either way there's only 2 out of 7 hexes that can give me a money/grey slot without ancients. So odds are I am going to be a very broke little space monster like my predecessors.

Provsional = Explore Tier 1, south of Formalhaut

BUT, if I'm online I'd like to wait and see Gnaw, GP and Morgoth's explore results before confirming

1 - they do not have to be the same

2 - I can do that. Will post later today.

Those odds may increase/decrease after Gnaw and I explore Tier 1.

If when you explore you point your hex so that it points north I hopefully will be able to connect to you. This is your explore North East action I am on about.

Thanks very much on both counts!

I think I will...hmm, do I want a half-wormhole straight to Gnaw's homeworld? :p Tempting, tempting, but I think instead I will place and rotate the hex one degree clockwise (so wormholes at NE, SE, S, and SW). Influence hex and colonise grey planet with...another hmm...two money cubes, and colonise advanced science planet too.

Remember you only have 3 colony ships (and I think you used one)... so you can only colonise 3 planets in a round (unless you influence).

IH say I use all three to colonise planets. When I influence later does that make the colony ships flip back up or not? Do they only do that when one round ends?

That's a good point. Maybe I will change it to tier 2 depending on what you guys get.

All your colony ships flip up at the end of the round

AND

You flip up one colony ship each time you use the Influence action (non-Magellan races flip up 2)

I HATE the colony ships system and I will never understand it. Too much flipping back and forth, I have no idea if they're flipped, which side I want them to be flipped on, and how or when to flip them. Flip off!

Ok, so far I have colonised three planets including the ones in my homeworld (do those count? If not, then I have colonised one planet. In which case, I want to colonise another two (the grey and the science on Betelgeuse), so that should be fine? Or not?

So you want to colonise the grey with money and the advanced science plant? If so then yes you can do that. The colony ships are required for colonizing anything other than your homeworld at the very beginning of the game. If you lost your homeworld and then took it back you would then need to use colony ships to repopulate everything. Hopefully this helps.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

claim 2 VP from discovery tile

Why did I have to get the orbital on an empty hex? I would have probably kept it if there was at least one other planet on the hex. Ah well.

The colony ships carry the people/aliens to the world so that you can get the benefits they produce. Otherwise you'd just have a planet. Like Jupiter.

And at the end of every round (or when you use the influence action), your populace make tons of babies so you have more colonists to ship out to desolate planets!!!

Yeah the colony system is pretty intuitive but what can you expect out of a bunch of water breathing lobster boys. All brains and no common sense.

D'rek is tempting me into sex talk, trying to distract me from the game, I saw her back door post earlier and I resisted Khell. I Resisted! It's so hard though, i'm a sucker for bad innuendos!

Yes, Yes, Khell, "In your endo"

I am not going to be around much tomorrow. I am at a funeral, I will have my phone with me though so hopefully would not be too much of a problem.
