CF! What are you going to do? Has Gnaw frightened you off of Khell? What is going on in your wondrous head

Yeah I was reading the thread you linked and was more confused than before.
Sorry. It was late night when I read that. Basically that person was saying "I'm going to lift the influence disc, hold it in my hand, swap populations, and set the disc down. And do it to that hex over there too.

How does it work with me? I don't see the benefit when using the influence action only flips one colony ship for my race.

Yeah about the only time you would want to use the influence action is if you wanted to colonize two unoccupied hexes or to abandonon two hexes for whatever reason. But you can flip your ships over for resources which more than makes up for that fact that you can reset only one colony ship per influence action most of the time.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I missed the fact that he was trying to do that with two seperate hexes at the same time.

I have a few systems now I need to colonize. I would need to influence, flip, colonize, influence flip, colonise. That can turn very expensive.

@Anybody who knows
I have learned from recent moves by Gnaw and Twelve that influence actions can be more useful than I had previously imagined. Is it possible, for instance, for me to depopulate Beta sextantis, return the orbital cube to my science track and then re-populate it with money?
Can I do that over and over, essentially trading production in my science track for production in the money track?
Looking back I see that I populated it with a money cube. Just wondering how flexible that is when returning the population.

Yes. The influence ACTION allows you to

It's only real use is to switch cubes on grey planets.

The two advanced economy? Start influence action, colonize AE in your home world, flip ship, colonize AE in vega. Turn over.

@Khell,
What do you want to do here. I think it's pretty obvious I don't have the firepower to take you out. We can commit mutual suicide or live in peace for now.
Non aggression pact? I'd like to try and drive some of the ancients from my old stompin' grounds. You'd be free to capture the hive hex with your cruiser.
If you're keen on this idea, I'll move to an ancient square and tie up one of my ships as a goodwill gesture.

Whatever I do, depends on what you do. But I generally take the view of 'leave me alone, and I'll leave you alone.' Suffice to say, I'm going to keep upgrading those starbases in case you change your mind once more.
A better goodwill gesture would be moving all your ships away. Just because you move one away doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly start trusting you. But I suppose it would be better than nothing.
Hmm, I don't think you're going to let Beta Hydri slide either way. Too much science there for you to pass up! When I do move to the ancient hexes, I'll still only be pinning a couple of ships, so it's effectively the same as moving a single ship.
I am interested in this new influence tactic, so I'll do that first just to move things along. We can discuss treaties as the turn goes around again
@Rho Indi
Move 2 interceptor to Kappa Scorpii, Move 2 interceptors to Rho indi. Ancients! To battle!
@Khell,
With this, I won't have enough ships to meet you and win in either system you control...especially if you go all suicidal and construct a second starbase. It does me no good to decimate my entire force with the vultures circling anyway.
You are free to pursue the ancient in the hive without fear of attack from me.
EDIT:
woops...small correction above.

@CF,
So are you doing an influence action first and then your next move will be to move ships or are you just moving ships this turn?

I didn't say I was going to do the influence action.
Just wondering if it was a possibility so I could run some scenarios.
And yes, I'm ignoring Gnaw's cruisers. If he wants to move in and take the traitor card, I'm sunk anyway so I might as well keep on keepin' on.

I'm gonna get me some ancient.
