SS's cruiser has two hulls on it, so it could take 3 damage so wouldn't have been destroyed, so the combat result remains the same.

Didn't show on the png/jpeg, hence my mistake :p .

Considering that they have different sections on Missile round and Engagement Rounds in the rulebook, I would also have to say that they don't count missiles as part of the engagement.

However, I'd also say that seems silly :p

How about your upkeep?

Your questions - sorry for mistakes. I did combat at 10:30 PM last night

@Khell,

When you issue the retreat order, you move to the edge of the hex without firing a shot. Combat continues as normal in initiative order (ie next cannon round progresses), until your retreating ship's next turn comes up. My interceptors all got to fire before your interceptor's turn came up again and 1 hit, ergo dead

@SS's battle

Yes, the last PNG posted was missing SS's upgrades. I noticed it last minute and corrected it after checking back through his actions in round 3. Battle outcome was unaffected and I don't think it warrants application of a combat re-roll. I get the sense others agree with that assessment?

@Tapper, IH, Twelve

Where in the heck did I say a missile round is not an engagement round??? You are quoting me on that, but I have never read that section of the rules. Unless this was established back in our debates RE point defense last game. In any case I had no clue and assumed (obviously incorrectly) that the dread regenerates after the missile round. TBH the rules can be interpreted either way, but if you guys know for a fact that IH's interpretation is correct (or at least generally accepted) then I'll apply my full combat re-roll rule.

I think that's only fair if I interpreted the rules incorrectly.

SUBSTANTIVE CORRECTION TO VP DRAWS

D'rek correctly pointed out that she should have had 2 VP draws in her combat, and since I evaluated her last (when she really should have been 2nd) it's only fair to remove VPs awarded after Exiles v. Ancients. Here are the re-draws

Exiles v. Orion - Orion draws [1,1] - keeps 1, Exiles draw [1]- keeps 1.
Rho indi v. Hydrani - Rho Indi draws [3,1] - keeps 3
Ponyboys vs. Ancients - draws [1,1,1] - keeps 1.

seriously wtf. That was done with a random number generator on random.org too too...7/8 1vp tiles.

On a quick thread re-read, there are 2 suggestions for simply re-rolling combat round 2 and keeping Twelve's missile round results.

"Fair" is a pretty vague term. I made the rule that I would re-roll combat entirely if a big mistake was made, but in this case, rewinding to the opening of round 2 is just as "fair" when you think about it.

I'd like to get Twelve's perspective on the matter (and make sure he's in the thread) for when I go through it again.

From a mod perspective, fairness is assured either way. What do you think as an impartial observer IH?

EDIT - I have just PM'd both Twelve and IH to weigh in. Any other comments welcome.

OK, end of combat maintenance. This will be followed with a pre-upkeep board update once I have answers.

@Morgoth

You influence the tile per request and find +8 money!

Which graveyard will you return your orbital cube to? Science or Money?

Colonization orders? If you haven't already posted on page 1.

@D'rek

Do you influence the tile? Colonization?

@Solidsnape

Do you influence the tile and claim the discovery? Colonization?

@Khell

Influence disc returned, 2 science cubes in graveyard, 1 moneycube in graveyard

@CF

I will influence Beta Hydri, colonize both money and science planets.
Rho indi influence disc returned, money and material cubes returned to graveyards

Not quoting so much as seeing it was applied, and no harm meant/done either :p This is a bitch to mod, and I don't want to harass you: I find the Eclipse rulebook rather confusing myself (and have been dead wrong at times) and the expansion only makes it worse as there are now 2 booklets to browse.

As for the comments: I'd roll Twelve's shots in the final combat round and if he doesn't destroy the Dreadnought, he dies, per the already rolled results.

If your rule was reroll combat, stick with the rule you outlined initially.

Statistically twelve did slightly worse than would be expected on the first two rolls, so a full re-roll would give him an advantage, so just winding back a round would negate that advantage. Personally I would probably just re-roll the erroneous roll, and leave all others as original, but if you rule was complete re-roll I guess you have to stick with that.

Yeah, no offense taken at all, even though on a re-read it seems that way. I was genuinely wondering where I said or applied that where it mattered. I don't remember distinguishing between engagement and missile round at all.

But maybe I did. I have dad-brain really bad and forget things with obscene frequency.

@IH,

Yeah, you're right. I guess if I'm establishing that as a rule then I should just keep the rule. I'll still wait for Twelve's comment before finalizing my decision.

Thanks for the input.

Put my orbital cube back on money. Keep the cash.

And settle the two planets.

Actually it isn't moot. By the rules the shot should have landed on the cruiser and. The interceptor would get another shot.

The second shot by the ancient (if fired) would, in that case, have destroyed the cruiser, right?

Nope the cruiser has 2 hulls so it would have taken a third shot to take it out.

I think CF made a mistake in twelves battle:

Quote

1x Ancient dreadnought defending - 3 init
2x Eridani Dreadnought attacking - 5 init
Missile Round - Ancient dread health bar [000000]

Eridani dreadnought # 1 fires 4x flux missiles [1,1,6,5] +3 = [1,1,6,6] - 2 HITS. - Aims 2 missiles at ancient dreadnought
- Ancient dreadnought sustains 2 damage
Eridani dreadnought # 2 fires 4x flux missiles [5,1,3,4] +3 = [6,1,6,6] - 3 HITS. - Aims 3 missiles at ancient dreadnought
- Ancient dreadnought sustains 3 damage
-Ancient dreadnought regenerates and negates 1 damage

Cannon round 1 - Ancient dread health bar [00====]

*Per Twelve's instructions, the ancient dread can be brought down with a single plasma cannon hit, continuing with cannon round

Eridani dreadnought # 1 fires 1x Plasma Cannon [2] +3 = [5] - 0 HITS.
Eridani dreadnought # 2 fires 1x Plasma Cannon [1] +3 = [1] - 0 HITS.
Ancient dreadnought fires 2x plasma cannon [1,1] + 2 = [1,1] - 0 HITS
-Ancient dreadnought regenerates and negates 1 damage
Cannon round 2 - Ancient dread health bar [000===]

*Per Twelve's instructions, the ancient dread can no longer be brought down with a single plasma cannon hit, retreat to zeta herculis.

Eridani dreadnought # 1 retreats to NE edge of GC hex
Eridani dreadnought # 2 retreats to NE edge of GC hex
Ancient dreadnought fires 2x plasma cannon [6,6] + 2 = [6,6] - 2 HITS on the yellow-bellied varmints' backsides!-Eridani dreadnought #1 and #2 destroyed

Ancients maintain control of the Galactic Centre!

According to the rules, morph shield regenerates a HP after each engagement round, the missile round does not count as an engagement round, so the ship should not have regenerated. I'd asked whether it regenerates after the missile round, I checked the rules later and found out that it does not, but forgot to post about it, sorry.

I don't know how you want to deal with that.

Hell's Yeah!!!!!! Let's do this again. This time Fight to the bitter end. No running. If I go down in flames I want all cannons emptied as the ships disintigrate around me.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

If Twelve does end up taking the centre, is it possible for me to open diplomatic relations with him? Or am I full? I don't know how many you can have.
