Yeah, well losing my dread sucked, too! Me and Morgoth are like mice in the corner fighting each other because we don't want to take on the cats.

Well I figure you are the rat to Morgoth's mouse, you did betray him after all. I'm not sure if I'm all that much further up the food chain than you are at the moment. All that protection you have on your ships is mighty frightening.

She just begged for that comparison didn't she?

Sorry D'rek, I meant reactions. Twelve has no reaction and tapper's last said he's not doing one, but that was a few rounds ago.

Just want to make sure he wasn't planning any last-minute sneakiness

Oh right, you guys have a warp portal that he could sneak through and attack you. Yeah, makes sense to check with him on that. Though you haven't passed yet so you could easily move back to defend.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Don't worry I'm sure you won't be the only weasel rat this game.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Huh. I worried about it, but I'm actually rather surprised. It seems a foolish risk to commit to fighting for my rather limited systems so far away from the more threatening front.

Alas, I'm assuming there will be no reactions for me.

This has been an interesting game, 2 betrayals already, 1 player on 0 science, and a couple on very low science strategies (will be interesting to see how they play off, I've never seen this tried before)

For my money D'rek is overreaching with this betrayal, and could be really punished, but the fine balance everyone else is in might let her get away with it. If she gets a turn or two without interference and beats morgoth she can probably see it out for game though. If morgoth gets neutron bombs on the otherhand he could really cause some havok next round and leave her in trouble (a couple of interceptors with 2 drives running behind the lines and cloaking device could be deadly). If I was picking tech before morgoth I'd make sure neutron bombs were left for him.

A lows science strategy was not really by choice. I assumed I would have both the science planet, and an orbital providing science at this point. Losing the dread really threw me, but It was a risk I knowingly took so I only blame myself.

And given the last minute sneakiness going on this round, it's not entirely implausible he'd move against me or Gnaw.

If I've learnt one thing from this game it's never trust what drek says. So if she's talking about attacking twelve via tats, and not attacking morgoth... She's clearly going to attack morgoth... Or possibly tats. :p my moneys on a reaction move to attack morgoths homeworld

And IH wins the crystal ball award for this round.

Yeah, I had hoped to have improved hull from passing so early last round. I was assuming that improved hull would be enough to prevent the innevital stab for another few rounds.

So what would have to happen for Morgy to get a reaction?

One of the players who've not officially passed would have to make another action.

I would have to make an action, as SS has passed and the round ends when I pass.

I don't have anything more to do (sorry morgoth) and so he won't get a chance to react.

That is...unless you want to make it worth my while Morgoth.

Yo ho ho, the life of a pirate! Wheelin and dealin on the high galactic seas !

@Gnaw,

THe game files should be on your server HDD in 5 minutes or so. I am very interested to see what you have in store. What do you have planned?

One, the simpler game board to cut down file size and still be phone friendly. Maybe split the player boards into distinct files and just link to them from the main page; again phone friendly. If nothing else it would allow us to have less data that is copyrighted to be physically on the MzE server.

umm....hello....PIRATE.

Joking, I thought about that too. We can probably justify the copyright issue ethics-wise in that several of the players actually own hard copies of the game in question, and it isn't like video games where everyone needs to own a copy to play. Board games are singly owned and shared by default. I'm also posting only low-resolution renders of the original files and not in a format where it would be easy to copy the pieces and construct an entirely new game.

As for phone friendly, yes, that would be nice. The last game had playerboards etc... all as different files, but I found that to be almost a bigger pain to surf on the phone.

If we could get the pieces simpler, and have basic 1-2 colour representations of the hexes, that would go a long way to reducing the file size. Not necessarily a size reduction for .jpg (since that's tied mainly to image dimensions) but .pngs and .pdfs would be much smaller.

Don't forget, if I get simple shapes with no background and non gradient color fills the SVG file size will shrink dramatically. And browsers can open svg files. I've got a single hex (terran union homeworld) with planets and whs that is a 25kb. before removing the 'real' hex background.

Just food for thought. Giving Morgy a shot at a reaction might save his ass for a little while. A Hegemony occupied elsewhere is a Hegemony not bothering the rest of us. :p

How exactly would I be bothering the pirates from across the map? If anything, CF would want me to keep pressure on twelve in the center from the other side so that CF can keep buggering you and Khell, and/or can be ready to attack (+backstab) twelve at an opportunte time while twelve is busy with me.

Alternatively, it goes the other other way and letting Morgoth steamroll me leads to a super-powerful Exiles knocking on your door down the road.
