Im wondering...whole series I guessed that Talisa is Tywin´s spy (because Westerling family etc) and now it seems GRRM was trolling me and she really wrote letters to her mother... Or...was somewhere exactly pointed that she is Lannister spy (who went rogue pregnant) ?
And my wife gave me beautiful five minutes of stunned silence...)

Seems we are free to discuss any spoilers here. What are the predictions? Will the show swap Beric Dondarrion for Lady Stoneheart? Will Joffrey be poisoned at his own wedding? (I don't actually watch the show, no HBO, but have thoroughly enjoyed reading today's reactions.)

Season 3 soundtrack is on spotify.

My hypothesis is that they dropped a bunch of fake clues to her being a Lannister spy and then brutally killed her in the Red Wedding specifically to make those theorizing that she's a spy feel bad.

I saw it less as an attempt to make us feel guilty and more as an attempt to preserve the element of surprise for book-readers. It was a little more brutal than we expected it to be (as if it wasn't bad enough in the first place).

What false clues were laid in for Talisa being a spy? This was completely innocuous stuff that was turned into something suspicious by people too quick on the trigger. It's the echo chamber in effect with no actual thing to create an echo at the start.

Exactly. It must be people who can't bear to hear "the kissing parts" of the story. I wouldn't blame GRRM at all if he was annoyed with them.

In other words, I don't actually think those three posts above mine are contradictory.

Not sure if this is a serious question or not; there was a video made about it posted earlier in the thread. They are the same sort of details that we know for sure really are clues, so it doesn't make much sense to say they were the product of overactive imaginations just because they didn't lead anywhere. They might or might not have been intentional; if they were intentional, then they were red herrings.

I think they missed a trick leaving out the Greatjon - when I think of the Red Wedding, I first think of the Greatjon flipping over the table, getting riddled with bolts, etc.
Otherwise solid.

With Talisa's death, does that spoiler that Jeyne Westerling + baby are now also formally of no consequence whatsoever for the books?

I was referencing the various ideas that Talisa was a spy in a joke about Martin and co. trying to make us feel even more bad.
Clearly, I should not attempt light-heartedness, as it would appear I'm no good at it.

For me to the bloody and (and a little bit longer!) was Talisa Tywin´s spy. From her first appeareance there are prolonged cuts on her writing letter, hints on her being in fact from "enemy camp", asking about strategy...and of course, there is Westerling parallel So it was IMO great play from Martin and writers team. Even when she was stabbed I thought "Yeah...got rid of rogue spy and heir".
