Yah i finf the prononciation is a bit wonky, especially because he was introduced as "(F)loki, like the god." and i swear sometimes it's pronounced LokNi and half the reviewers use 'Loki'.

Crazy vikings...

Thats mad. one of my good friends is a grip on the viking as its made here in Ireland, down in county Wocklow. he said the show is being made as a competitor to GOT, and that has been given approval for a 2nd series. he said later episodes are great. lots more fighting and plundering.

Totally enjoyed the ep, altho the depiction of the Northumberlanders as morons who pray in the middle of an ambush and completely lose their shit at a fairly obvious charge breaking tactic was a bit silly. I think they could have shown the Viks hammering them just as effectively without making them look like complete idiots who deserved the beating. It sort of minimized it, altho that shot of the Viks getting ready to emerge from their camp to attack was brilliantly done.

Really enjoyed the byplay between Rollo and Floki over the baptism.

Am suspicious of Siggi in the miscarriage.

Heh, Rollo's baptism was a good one, I'm still chuckling...
And I'm still waiting for Ragnar's other sons to pop into existence, assuming they go by the 'true story'.

While I agree that that praying scene in the middle of the ambush was exaggerated, Aella's brother was all bravado, no? He said he'd hired poets to sing of his deeds, plus his officers questioned him - probably not without cause - so maybe he wasn't that great a warrior after all. Perhaps he'd won all his battles that way, but it didn't work this one last time,eh? Posted Image

Am I the only one that is a bit tired of Ragnar smiling at everything? It seems like half the plot is Ragnar grinning about something or another.

Nope your not lol! My ex wife when we were watching today started bitching about it. However I told her it seemed kinda ramped up this Ep cause I think they were showing how dif the 2 cultures are.

I prefer Ragnar's smiling to the Monk's look of perpetual amazement.

I found the season finale... odd. It was almost entirely setup for S2... the only thing just barely resolved was Rollo finally opposing Ragnar. The plague storyline, Ragnar boinking whatserface, that all seemed hammered into the episode in a hurry. And no fighting. It was the season finale of VIKINGS and the closest thing we got to violence was one of Ragnar's sidekicks getting his face slashed for voyeurism.

Beautifully shot as always, Gerdi's death was sad, but this seemed more like the first ep of S2. Decent ep overall, but i think last week's ritual would have made a better end point, or the week before where they clobbered the English.

My favorite episode was the second to last. It was great seeing the way they portrayed the Viking religious ceremonies. The end was just great.

Have your friends over to your longhouse to share mead and women. Vikings season 2 premiers next Thursday, February 27th,

The last episode of season 1 was confusing and seemed out of place, so I kind of have lowered my expectations for season 2. I'll watch and see how it goes and make a decision on whether it gets dropped from my viewing schedule or not.

If Ragnar's there, there ain't no problem. Maybe that last episode was weak but I'm still eager to see what they're going to make of this series -- especially how they are going to handle Rollo's side of the story.

I'm hoping its a longer season this time.

Nice, saw the new season advertised, are they going to replay season 1, think I need a refresher, although reading through this thread jogged my memory a lot :p

Mixed feelings about S2 based on how mixed S1 was, esp that finale. When this show was great, it was really great, but when it got teachy/preachy it was sooOOooo weak. Still very pretty to look at tho'.

Donal Logue is back for at least the start so hopefully we'll see the promised war, but i have a bad feeling they'll jump ahead and skip all the potentially awesome Ragnar v Rollo conflict we crave.

Have preliminary plans to marathon the first season over the weekend with some friends. Interesting to see how this will "impress" someone a) living in an area with a Viking past and ;) re-enacting the same period as a hobby. :p

Say what I will about the story, Hist channel did a glorious job w the visuals, accuracy and combat when it actually took place. I think you'll enjoy.
