Ah, now things are getting good.
Lagertha snapped a big z upon returning to Kattegat and said "oh no you di'int!" And boy did that MMA training Lagertha and Astrid practiced in epi 1 sure come in handy.
Rollo was all like "I'm just taking the nephew to Vegas for the weekend dear, it will be harmless".
And man oh man, who would like to see a spin-off show called "The wacky adventures of Ragnar and Ivar" ?

Probably the best episode so far since its return in November.
Ragnar's and King Ecbert's crisis of faith was some of the best work so far in this series.
And boy, if Queen Auslaug wouldn't have thrown in the "I provided Ragnar sons" when making her entreaty to Lagertha to let her just leave, things may have turned out different for her.
And look out! Ragnar's sons!

Ragnar's reaction to young Alfred was completely heartwarming! I feel like he finally was able to let his feeling of responsibility for Aethelstan's death at the hands of Floki rest after letting it eat away at him. I wish he'd have an inclination to see just how GREAT Alfred is going to become in the future!
I agree the crisis of faith sequence was incredible from start to finish.
Also, Aethelwulf made himself a POWERFUL enemy when he treated Ivar AND Ragnar how he did. Ivar is going to fucking DESTROY him after Ecbert dies.

Best episode for ages now, great stuff from start to finish. The two King's discussing faith and Ragnars fate was so very well done; tied up past events and totally set up the future events at the same time. Great dynamic - and again Athelstan was there influencing both of them.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Whaa.. how was that boring?! Ragnar handing himself over as 'part of a larger strategy' was a decision that ended up changing the future and face of the entire country. And that scene, on the tv at least, implied that it was all planned.
With Rollo set to change Brittany (did they really call it 'Normandy' in the show? surely that was a slip up, as it only became named as such after Rollos 'northmen' settled there) they're really going all out to show how these individuals were a major factor in the development of these countries.

What a light, airy episode. Laughs and giggles throughout. Nothing of import to note, not at all.

I think the entertainment industry needs someone to sit in all the writing sessions and smack everyone who brings up the idea of an "aftermath" episode or book.

Aw man, I saw the pivot by Floki from a mile away, especially when he said he felt hollow and needed to be filled up. I wonder how that is going to develop.
And boy, the messenger (which god?) bringing news of Ragnar to his sons sidetracks vengeance against Lagertha (I think). I'd hate to be the target of a collective effort by all of Ragnar's sons.

Maybe a tinge bit on the over acting side, but man it raised the goose flesh.

I dunno, Floki hated the idea of a Christian God, but he's a-okay with Allah? Still not his Norse Gods. Also, damn Helga, she's got crazy eyes now. I'm not sure Ivar & Co could call Lagertha without drawing Bjorn's ire, and I don't think they'd want that. I mean, Ivar wouldn't care, but the other two - also Hvistverk (spelling?) who is now a big fan of big bro - would care.

I'm not so sure Floki is into the god aspect of Islam, but more admires the show of dedication by the faithful. A buddy of mine actually went through the same experience.
True about Bjorn being an obstacle against his half brothers' desire for revenge against Lagertha. But I think they all are on board in getting revenge for their father. And if you add Rollo to Ragnar's sons... oh boy, look out!

Hahaha. That reception Rollo received upon returning from the the raid. Quite a contrast compared to how Bjorn deals with home life.
Boy, what timing by Bjorn though. A Bjorn vs. Ubbe battle would be interesting.
And it's good to see Ivar and Floki's relationship pick right up how Ragnar and Floki used to treat each other. Puts a smile on my face.
Whoa, so Astrid is having at it with mom and son, this could only end badly. Maybe enough so Bjorn would allow Lagertha to face her comeuppance by the other brothers?

Since Laegertha is not a historical figure (like Aslaug was) she's a total wild card with regards to the events. Like we know where historically everyone else ends up, Rollo, Floki, Bjorn, Ubba and Ivar, ect. But Laegertha was invented, so they can do anything with her.

I was so ready for her to kick Ubbe and Ivar's asses... just give them a complete beating but stop short of killing them.
In my head that fight was glorious.
Bjorn's entrance was nicely done tho'. His relationship with Aslaug's four sons is fascinating.
