Done a little more. I'm pretty sure Tavore wore some sort of armour, but wondering if T'amber had some as well?

Combined a couple of my photos for the background, I'll be painting over them, but that's roughly what it'll look like.
Probably take out the wall with the torch on it as well.
...

I like the way Kalam is in shadows but still a big presence.
I think he usually had one blade in a forward hold, the other reversed.
T'amber was in dueling armor for this scene, iirc.

Thanks, off to google to see what dueling armour looks like.
Kalam is still just an outline that's why all the shadow, but he won't be much brighter than that. I will fix his knives

Finally got around to painting this guy
It was an exercise to see if I could get Jaghut tusks correct. Not anyone in particular, unless anyone can remember a bald Jaghut

Very cool - but I always imagine the Jaghut's tusks protruded from the sides of their mouths.

From Blood and Bone:

"Yet Gothos refrained from heaping scorn on that statement. Instead, he edges his head to peer through his ragged curtain of hair and his cracked lips drew back even further from his dtusks in a mercelss smile as if reading those very thoughts."

If his lips draw back from the tusks, it stands to reason that the tusks would protrude from the sides of his mouth.

Still, it's ridiculously cool to see a Jaghut bust!

I haven't read B&B yet, but when I do I'll get back to you.
I'd done this sculpt before I had read FoD as well.

In Nobbs' defense, while this particular quote does indeed say they come out of the mouth, there arealso contradicting quotes from the main series, and also, taking anatomical issues into consideration there are some things that simply wouldn't work with the size of the tusks as the books seem to imply it. That sait, 'his cracked lips drew back even further from his tusks in a mercilss smile' is possible even when the tusks themselves do not come from the mouth proper; it all depends on 'how' they do so. Having them come from the mouth proper would requiere a re-imagining of the whole jaw area, as the lower jaw would have to thrust forward like that of a beast and probably even further than that jaw of an Imass (this would, however, make them look more primal and ancient). I'll stop here, though, or I'll continue going on about that issue until dinner.

Now, what I'm trying to say is that while it does not match my image of the Jaghut tusks to a t, Nobbs sculpture thingie is just as valid an interpretation as any other one :(

It would be interesting if we could actually do a series of sketches of the anatomy for both solutions. Maybe make Omtose Phelleck our monthly warren this time round? I personally have started to agree with the idea of a Jaghut physiology that looks beastial, with tusks set in the mouth rather than in sheathes to the side. I get the sheathes though, Jaghut are aliens like the FA. The less they look like humans the more I find believability in their appearance. but you get that in both approaches I guess.

Corp I enjoyed the jaghuts progress.glad you got it to the colouring faze, can't wait to follow the next one.

Looking amazing as always, Nobbs!

re Tusks: I agree with Puck that there is variation in the tusks throughout the series. The most extreme is the blue TtH jaghut who has enormous face-hugging tusks, I think, so you have lots of lee-way to play with!

I've had this idea sitting on my hard drive for a couple of years now. Decided to have another go at it.

Very nice. Like how the sculptures panning out. Very much an awesome sword sweep.

As for the image from NoK....a critical perspective draws my attention to the colour choices that blend really nicely. Composition wise maybe zoom in? the foreground needs more activity and definition. See if u can get all the action happening in the central third, you'll be golden.

If u have a grand scale ice monster in mind though disregard my advice and try mesh more pink into the centre for focal tension.

Hadn't planned anything for centre. Though it did worry me, I had thought about extending the rocky outcrop around and into the middle foreground, but couldn't really get it to work. So just left it.
Don't really want to zoom in, wanted all the action in the distance. But I agree centre really does need something. Maybe a single random rock?

OK, shifted somethings around, added stuff.

I downloaded some recording software and wanted to test it out on something quick.
So, here's a quick one of Grub, Sinn and some skykeeps.
Also a link to the video. No embedding cos I don't know how, and probably won't keep it up anyway.

That one with moon spawn rising and the music from your previous video belong together.

Epic in every direction.

Edit: @Worry: mind if I give that a shot aswell?

Just been reading through MoI for a quote to go with the pic, realised I got a heap of details wrong... *sigh*
@Dolmen - That music was just from Youtube. I was just going to use it until I worked out how to add music to the videos
@worry - that would be cool to do.

Fixed, I guess.
Kurald Galain and dragons added. I think there is supposed to be ice in the harbour too, but it's not as clear. So I'll hold off on that

That's a really good edit on the original. Adds even more atmosphere. Ice woould imply snow though wouldn't it? Youtube stock I find is actually not that bad but whatever you replace it with please make it something epic because the speed paint built up to this one nicely.

The dragons do add a lot to realizing the enormity of Moon's Spawn, great addition. I don't mind if anybody attempts that BH idea, it's just clear Nobbs has a certain thing going that'd be a great perspective for the scene. But anyone's depiction of it would be highly welcome!
