You can’t beat that sale!

Feels like it'd be taking advantage to buy that deal, can't ethically do it.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

If it helps, CS Forester has been dead since the 60’s?

That actually does help, for ulterior reasons I won't explain.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

A few earbooks for your consideration....

Reynolds' REVENGER is a mere $5.99 at audible.com. I haven't heard / read this but a few of you have praised it as solid Reynolds.

Also, here's a weird thing... Robert McCammon's THE WOLF'S HOUR is currently $37.77 from Graphic Audio, includes the three part audioplay and a bonus short story. If you're familiar w horror/thriller author McCammon, this is one of his bestest books in my opinion. WW2 werewolf commando fights nazis, dudes get clawed, mad science happens, things 'splode, hilarity ensues. Great book tho i have not heard this version. But wait... 'Abyss, i just want one narrator, not a whole bunch of talented voice actors performing the exact same book for me with carefully planned sound fx and music!', well, Audible has the same book in 'normal' audiobook - one narrator - for one credit. 'But Abyss' you cry, 'i have all these credits just sitting around', well fear not my friend, because you can buy the three part audioplay and the short story for a mere credit each, which works out to slightly more than the Graphic Audio price but hey, credits. 'Oy, Abyss' i hear you suddenly think (Yes i hear your thoughts just roll w it) 'something looks weird at that last audible link?!?'. And you are not wrong, because the same full cast audio drama being sold in parts for 3 credits, is ALSO, sitting RIGHT THERE, for ONE credit (no short story but if you love the book you can buy it later). And yeah i don't get it either so if you're even a little interested grab it before someone realizes that's silly.

My goodness Abyss - you interlocutor and purveyor of all things ancient and entertaining - I recall reading that when it came out over 30 years ago!
How could any audible book - even one so highly recommended by such a notable as yourself - possibly attain the same levels of enjoyment as that generated by my pre-digital age inner narrators and voice actors?

Samesame, I read that in dead tree twice and totally enjoyed it, i wish McCammon had written more w the character but he doesn't do sequels.

I can't say w certainty that my fondness isn't nostalgia, but i remember it being a damn fine book and Graphic Audio really does do great work when they adapt a book for unabridged audio drama.

My point is the one credit version is <$15 for an earbook/audiodrama that should cost anywhere from $37.77 to $45ish and is likely great. ...and audible being audible if you hate it you have a year to return it anyways.

Didn't mind that one actually. Light-ish Space Opera with interesting ideas without the Reynolds-induced headaches.

Luke Arnold's THE LAST SMILE IN SUNDER CITY is $5.99 on audible.com.
Haven't read it yet but was reco'd to me as somewhere between LOWTOWN and THE BLACKTONGUE THIEF, and there are three reasonably self-contained books in the series out already if likey.

...also, the author and narrator Luke Arnold played John Silver on BLACK SAILS. This is either a neutral or massively positive point, i'll let you know when i listen to it, it's high in the eTRP.

If you missed it earlier this year, Humble Bundle is doing an encore of their Terry Moore Collection bundle, featuring basically everything by Terry Moore. Well worth your $$$, the Strangers in Paradise series is fantastic, as is Echo. (Probably the rest are as well, but I haven't gotten to them yet!)

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch
