They're saving him for the moment when he takes out Palpatine.

Bravo, you got me to literally lol with that one! About 10 flashbacks of Chopper destroying people/droids/objects through the Rebels series all invaded my brain at the same time. Getting a shot at Palps would just be Stupendous! (It might be time to watch Rebels again...)

Everyone needs to watch Rebels again! I'm rewatching it with my 7 year old, who didnt really get into it when I was watching it first time. He's really enjoying it. Clone Wars and Rebels has most of my favourite Star Wars content; I'll take those two series over the latest movies any day.

Haven't seen the new trailer yet.

REBELS became really good. Like, not just good cartoon good, but solid storytelling compelling tv good.
Which made it kind of astounding how bad RESISTANCE S1 was. Ok, fine, aim younger if you must, but that was just condescending.

That episode...you know the one...late in S4....that episode remains in my top five episodes of TV EVER. It destroys me every time I watch it.

And If Kanan isn't the EPITOME of a Jedi who basically achieved what Luke eventually did in ROTJ....I don't know one.

I have learned recently that while REBELS was the child of Dave Filoni (hence the quality and Star Wars-y-ness of it)...that RESISTANCE was instead shepherded initially by Kiri Hart as another of her attempts (not liking or knowing much about Star Wars) to remake SW into something it's not. RESISTANCE largely flopping (a year after REBELS won nearly unanimous praise) is apparently on the list of reasons she was turfed from Lucasfilm during the summer (though is still on the payroll to prevent her from shit-talking Disney/Lucasfilm; Yes, this really happened). So it's not only unsurprising that it was cancelled after two short seasons, but why it's not a good show and can't touch the calibre of REBELS.

Death Star II Throne Room ROTJ VS 30+ years later TROS.

I mean...the TROS shot makes it look like a small grenade went off, not the whole thing blown to smithereens...

I mean I honestly don't MIND some DSII wreckage on Endor. But it should just be piles of metal slag if anything, not an almost perfect reconstruction of the Throne room with the main window intact. I mean the throne itself is still there...just canted to the side a bit...like WTF?!

That Kanan scene is still so good. I'm tearing up all over again.

I've heard that Kanan will be amongst the "Force Ghost voices" that Rey hears encouraging her in TROS. That would be sweet.

So very much THIS. I could not believe how deeply I was pulled into this animated story. Getting to binge it is a huge plus, admittedly. But by the time what you're referencing here came about, it totally broke me down. I re-watched the whole series within 6 months of my 1st watch and waterworks again. So very well written and executed. Rebels was better than I could ever have imagined an animated show of that length being. I enjoyed The Clone Wars, mostly, hanging in there for Ahsoka's story, but Rebels is significantly better, to me. These Clone Wars final episodes coming up certainly look like they're going to be quality, though.

Uh...what? They have no relationship whatsoever, you might as well have a voice of Random Padawan 346.

Where arer you getting all this stuff about the internal workings of Lucasfilm, by the way?

There is a guy over on Star Wars Leaks Reddit and he has a very very good history of leaking legit info. Most of it comes from him/there. There is also a guy over at the Disney Parks forums who has crazy legit info about the staffing stuff at LFL.

I'm not sorry about that in any way.

Looking at the lineup of directors and actors for The Mandalorian, the original plan of B+W 'having a go at SW' looked like a misstep from the outset.

I've seen the new trailer. Decidedly meh.
The new trilogy, despite some good moments, hasn't really grabbed me as much as the movies and series set away from the main arc.

I'm really looking forward to the Mandalorian way more than the final movie.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

What's interesting is the Q + A session at the Austin film festival. They pretty much admit that GoTs was like film school for them - they had no idea what they were doing, relied on the internet for information, and the actors to define the characters.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Wow. That makes for some grim reading.

Sort of makes me wonder if the moments of brilliance were just sheer dumb luck in that if you keep at it long enough you're bound to get it right sometimes.

To admit you didn't sit and figure out what the message of the books was..... because it's all power.... and then have nothing to say about power for the last two/three series. Well.... wow.

Indeed. The fact they got credit for the added scene with Cersei and Robert... when actually they just wrote it as filler to meet the HBO time requirements kind of points at dumb luck more than design.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

That was the scene I had in mind too - whatever the circumstances it was one of their strongest moments.

It really looks like the skill of the actors exploring their characters was responsible. I'm quite surprised they've been so candid about how much they were winging it.

This was coming the MOMENT that GOT S8 tanked and burned with most viewers. They were hired by Lucasfilm way back when they were still riding moderately high on GOT...and don't believe for a SECOND that they "walked"...as you've said PG they ruined GOT to get away to do SW together...so the odds they've walked are slim. I'm 100% on the idea that Iger, and Horn pulled rank and disassociated themselves with the two as it would further tarnish the brand. They are not about that.

I've said this many times before. Disney and its subsidiaries answer to....major shareholders....if shareholders are not happy with choices, then those choices get turfed.

So now the slate is cleared of the creatives with recent division/stinkers under their belts (Johnson, B&W) from their future projects...JJ will finish out the ST.

And the way is cleared moving forward for some creatives with real successes in their hats, Favreau, Filoni, Feige, Waititi, Famuyiwa, Chow...

TL;DR: This is great news.
