...It falls in such a clunky way since Ben Solo is redeemed mid-to-late film and then he and Rey challenge the Emperor....so any "evil" broody moments before that are just going to feel so trite knowing that redemption is in the cards.

Also another moment from the trailer that sucks with knowledge of the full plot leak.

The Threepio moment is such a shitty trailer moment to use since it's a fakeout (one of TWO fakeout "deaths" in the film). Threepio can help them get to the macguffin but it requires a memory implant from a battle droid and thus will wipe his "identity" so that' him saying goodbye to his friends....but late in the movie his memories and personality are all restored. So to use that in the trailer feels like purposely heart-string yanking for a fake-out.

I do like the fact that the Ghost is visible in the crowded Rebel ship shot. Would it be too much to see Chopper and/or Hera? That would be sweet.

Apparently, the scene originally was like the Priori Incatatem scene in Harry Potter 4, where the ghosts show up to "help" the protagonist. Those ghosts were supposedly going to be Luke, Leia, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and a few other former Jedi...but now it will just be voices helping Rey defeat the Emperor...again my info says this is because Disney is courting favour with the Chinese Communist govt. and as such can't have actual ghosts in the film (Disney trying their luck again after TLJ and Rogue One bombed hard there).

I'm still excited to see it, and I'm glad there'll be some involvement for Leia.

I agree with the point about multiple trailers. I don't really remember when this became a thing.... wracking my brains for older franchises and I don't recall LOTR or Harry Potter doing the multiple full length trailer nonsense. Seem to recall they may have done teaser and then one full length but correct me if that's wrong.

The China issue if true is really disappointing.

To be honest, I enjoyed TFA and since I change my mind about TLJ with each re-watch (genuinely, that film confuses me) I'm just going to hope to enjoy this one. It's Star Wars, they'd have to do something truly world-breakingly awful to it to prevent my inner kid getting a kick out of it.

Agreed. It seems they did the best they could with the footage they had of her from TFA. Context, she's the one Rey is training with in the jungle shots, and that's where the "hug" later in the trailer takes place.

It's been a thing a long, long time actually. 1 Teaser and 2 full length trailers is pretty standard. LOTR and Harry Potter both did this.

Example: LOTR/FOTRTeaser, FOTR Trailer 1, FOTR Trailer 2

Example 2: HP 3 Teaser, HP 3 Trailer 1, HP 3 Trailer 2

I hope to be at least entertained...but the leaks (a lot of which this trailer just confirmed) don't read well....but I'll hope that the film itself rises above them and makes for a decent film...we will see.

My fave moment in ANY trailer ever...is the opening bit from the The Two Towers Trailer 1.

Galadriel: "There is a union now, between the two towers, Baradûr, fortress of the dark lord Sauron, and Orthanc stronghold of the wizard Saruman...the peril of the ring bearer grows..."

Chills every time. And I will randomly say that shit out loud for no reason at all...much to the chagrin of my wife... "We are in the grocery store!"

But then I also say "Gondor calls for aid!" whenever someone turns on a flashlight at the cottage...so I MAY be a nerd.

My daughter found a CNBC article that says Verizon is going to offer Disney+ to their new and existing customers for free for a year. Customers with unlimited data, new Fios home internet or new 5G, it seems. We'll be out since I don't carry unlimited data but I'm sure many do. Not sure about Canada for that. Everyone needs to watch Rebels again! I'm rewatching it with my 7 year old, who didnt really get into it when I was watching it first time. He's really enjoying it. Clone Wars and Rebels has most of my favourite Star Wars content; I'll take those two series over the latest movies any day.

Haven't seen the new trailer yet.
